  1. Also keep an eye on Canon rebates, the Pro-100 series goes on sale quite a bit for a fraction of the full price (think the lowest was $75).  It's not a full-featured (as in scanner/fax/etc) but it does color pics VERY well.

  2. That's not a portable HD, it's a desktop HD.  Still external, though.  And still a good deal.  Just wanted to make sure you knew it wasn't portable.

Ya, the external most likely has it's own power supply, not a problem here. I still have a spare usb port or two to use LOL

  3. The 18-55mm  f/3.5 II IS len's isn't that bad of a lens, especially given it's price.  True, USMs and L's will give you a much better result (faster focusing, better corners, bigger aperture, etc....) but for a hefty price tag.  It's a lot better than the old 35-80mm thats for sure!

  4. 4.6 out of 5

LOL rushed there at 6:30 (I'm not THAT crazy) in case they might be running out.  Got there and not a one had sold HA! Well waited in line to get it.  Went back to BB a few hours to just look around and still had a tone of them left.  I could have waited for the crowds to let up LOL

Anyways... what I've seen so far (I've only worked on it for a couple hours now):  It's big compared to the 24", but that is kinda-of a downside too, 1920 is a bit too low for 27".  A resolution bump up would have helped it.  Also it's BRIGHT, I'll have to let it burn in before calibrating it. I do know it'll need to be toned down a lot.

  5. Ummm what am I missing?  Lightroom 5 was on sale $109 yesterday, today it's part of the "current deal" and it's still $109

Edit: Well anyways 20% off isn't too bad... decided to order it and get it over with LOL

  6. Picked this up today http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZS0FT6020

    $628

This Everything You Need Kit includes:

    - Canon EOS REBEL T3i Black 18 MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm IS II Lens

    - Replacement LP-E8 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack

    - Replacement LP-E8 Home/Travel Charger

    - 32GB SD Memory Card

    - Full Size Photo Tripod

    - 67'' Aluminum Monopod

    - Medium Camera Case

    - All In One SD Card Reader

    - 3 Piece Filter Kit (Ultra Violet, Circular Polarizer, and Fluorescent Filter)

    - x2 Telephoto Lens

    - .45x Wide Angle Lens

    - Soft Rubber Lens Hood

    - Tulip Flower Hard Lens Hood

    - Flexible Mini Tabletop Tripod, Bottle of Lens Cleaning Solution, Cleaning Cloth, Squeegee Card, 5 Cotton Swabs

The x2 telephoto and .45x wide angle and the filters (except for the CP) are more or less worthless

Also don't forget to check out the T4i, the all cross-focus points are a worthy improvement over the T3i.  The T5i... no big difference over the T4i.

buyer - I know there are some amazing deals out there going that route but I am too chicken! I think with my luck the refurb I purchase will lead me to a future of RMA's and downtime with no product. But that is just me - not saying that it's a bad route to go for all!

If you go with the Canon loyalty program (as stckciv already mentioned) the cameras are inspected by canon, in fact they're more inspected than brand new cameras (which only a few are inspected [every 10th....etc]).  At least this was the case a couple years ago .

  7. No problem, just looking for all my options.  I currently have a 23" asus and an aoc.  The AOC cannot be color calibrated successfully.  It fails at 97% of the dispcalgui profile verification tests.

I do like the 27" especially for the price, perhaps give me an excuse to upgrade both to 27" LOL

  8. The E2742V appears to be a TN, there's also a E2742V-BN, but that's TN too.  The local BB has a LG 27" IPS monitor on display, I'll check it out, maybe that's the model...

They generate special BB only SKUs so you can't PM it anywhere.

I kinda figured out that's the reason.

Ohhh look at Dell's ad, the Dell UltraSharp 23" U2312HM is IPS.

  9. Here you go, http://www.bestbuy.com/site/27-ips-led-hd-monitor/1875013.p?id=1219066386928&skuId=1875013&st=lg%2027%22%20monitor&cp=1&lp=4. That's the exact monitor from the ad. It is definitely a good deal getting an IPS monitor at that size for that price, but if it was me I would prefer a 2560x1440p resolution at that size but then a monitor at that size with that res wouldn't come as cheap. The 1920x1080p resolution is still good though so don't let my personal preference sway your decision in any way.

Weird, apparently that model, 27EA31V-B, doesn't exist outside BB.  Even LG's website doesn't have it.  No reviews, no info makes me hesitant about getting it.

  10. I agree that is certainly a good price. Compared to last year you would have paid as low as $109.99 for the same kind of monitor. This monitor features a TN panel with an anti-glare coating. If you're not a professional anything where color reproduction matters (and you would thus want an IPS panel) then this would monitor would be fine. Now, one thing TN panels ARE good for is gaming, because they help reduce the amount of lag that you experience.

There's also one on the next to last page, Dell UltraSharp 23" U2312HM.  It's a IPS, while not as fast as TN, it should produce a better quality, more accurate image.
