  1. Nothing that you couldn't buy online at Bestbuy.com right now. Trust me -- ALL OF THE DOORBUSTERS ALREADY HAVE "CUSTOMERS"! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/NO/no.gif
  2. Allentown, PA -- 30 degrees -- 8:21 pm Circuit City - 25 people in line Best Buy - 75 people in line, some with tents.
  3. Don't freak out, go to http://www.walmart.com.
  4. Oh, an internal one? I have an older edition of this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820223109
  5. They have monitors on sale every week -- sign up for their e-mail newsletter. 22" is the new "sweet spot" for pricing. I haven't found any media card reader sales... www.meritline.com and www.supermediastore.com practically specialize in those things though.
  6. I'm getting the Asus one. Slightly less contrast than the one you got and more expensive pre-rebate, but it has a DVI input.
  7. Go here: http://promotions.newegg.com/NEPro/Friday08Blak/index.html?cm_sp=DailyDealsPage1-_-NEPRoFriday08Blak-_-http%3a%2f%2fpromotions.newegg.com%2fNEPro%2fFriday08Blak%2f118x200.gif Scroll down to "HOME AUDIO".
  8. I'm glad I got my order in early... Now I'm slowly going through to make sure I didn't miss something good. Since my first order was free shipping, it's not a big deal if I need to order something separate.
  9. 8:00 pm @ Wyomissing, PA BB store. NO ONE in line! The 38 degree temps might have something to do with it...
  10. New product, no reviews.

  12. Yep, there are a couple... 1 Terabyte, 1.5 Terabyte (4 times or 6 times bigger than the 250GB you are talking about). You need to know whether to get IDE or SATA. Don't get the wrong one.
  13. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Threads/signs-bump.gif More stuff has been announced: http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/429317.aspx Just 2.5 hours to go. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Mil-Computer/wootsmiley.gif
  14. Well, a new one is always preferred to a refurb. Walmart offers free "ship to store", so you need only pick it up at the store, no biggie. In my local Walmart, the ship to store dept. is back where layaway used to be.
  15. I have a 4GB Sansa Clip - it's great! They're supposed to release an 8GB early next year.
  16. I just got off the phone with my local Radio Shack store. On Black Friday they're going to have both the Propel & the Matrix for $49.99 each with one month free texting (with 2 year contract). Unfortunately for me, they can't do a month of free MediaNet in place of the texting.
  17. 2.5" ("portable") drives are based on notebook hard drives -- they do not have a power cord. They draw power through the USB port. There is a definite premium in the picing vs. the larger 3.5" drives.
  18. Unlikely -- it's not even a real brand. I give it 60-90 days before the sealed battery conks out or the player fails altogether. A better bet: reconditioned Sansa 1GB Clip: http://www.buy.com/prod/sandisk-sansa-clip-mp3-player-1gb-black-refurbished/q/loc/111/210453216.html It's $19.99 shipped if you pay with PayPal. I'm sure your local Sears store could answer all of those questions for you. Go here: http://auto.sears.com/Sears-Auto/10623.htm and click on one of the two green buttons...

  21. That Velociraptor would make a great boot drive. Or two in RAID 0 - yowza! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Mil-Computer/geek1.gif
  22. My Kodak Z740 takes horrible macro setting photos and at 3 years old, the macro setting just gave out altogehter (it refuses to focus in macro setting). mrseddie's daughter seems to be after an dSLR or SLR-like camera, not a point and shoot.
  23. Just putting together a nice website doesn't mean they are a good reseller. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Mil-Negative/beafraid.gif Check out these horrid reviews: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/86th_Street_Photo_Video http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Mil-Negative/scaredsmiley.gif The predecessor to that camera is the DMC-FZ18, but you'll only find that on ebay. It's is only 8MP. The used DMC-FZ18 that I saw on eBay was bidding up to $250. It's something you could keep an eye on if used is an option for you: http://photography.shop.ebay.com/items/Digital-Cameras__dmc-fz18_W0QQ_nkwZdmcQ2dfz18QQ_catrefZ1QQ_flnZ1QQ_sacatZ31388QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em282?_trksid=p3286.c0.m282 There aren't tons and tons of "SLR-Like" cameras in the $200 range, and the other Fuji cameras in that class (SD2000HD and S8000fd) suffer from the same photo quality issues. Another camera I would recommend (this one is under $200): The Panasonic DMC-TZ4, but it's a compact camera, not a "SLR-Like" camera. That does make it more pocketable though. The DMC-TZ4 is auto-focus only -- there is no manual focus option that your daughter may be looking for. It also has a 10x zoom lens with an 8MP sensor. The otherwise similar DMC-TZ5 steps up to a 10.1 MP sensor (larger prints). "Bottom Line - Panasonic has put together a winning combination of portability and versatility with the Lumix DMC-TZ4 "Super-zoom". With an 8-megapixel imaging sensor, 10x Leica optical zoom lens (with MEGA O.I.S.), compact and durable body as well as one of the smartest, easiest to use auto shooting modes available (iA mode), the Panasonic TZ4 is a great camera. Whether it be for someone that likes to travel or one who needs the versatility of a much more expensive camera in a compact package. All this combined with class average performance, great image quality and ease-of-use make the DMC-TZ4 a steal with a price of US$300 or less. " http://www.steves-digicams.com/2008_reviews/panasonic_tz4_samples.html ----------- Another thought -- maybe I'm crazy, but: Had you thought about a manual print camera for your daughter? My manual camera is a Minolta X-700. You can buy them with 35mm lens (used, of course) on ebay for $49.99. You could get her a few lenses and some print film (stocking stuffers) and be under your $200 price range. Prices have really fallen for manual print cameras -- I probably have $1500 wrapped up in my manual setup (I have 5 lenses), but it might only be worth $300-$400 these days. Reviews of the X-700: http://www.photographyreview.com/mfr/konica-minolta/35mm/PRD_84484_3105crx.aspx A true manual-focus camera, able to take slides, print film in color or black and white, etc. All manual camera and gear are cheap right now -- she might like it -- it's "old school". While she will lose the instant gratification of the LCD screen and being able to instantly drop the images off of the memory card, all photo places can publish prints from a print camera to a CD and/or online. The other benefit? - her photos will actually get printed. Since I use my digital camera more (for convenience) I have virtually no prints. The last time I seriously used my print camera is on vacations, where I think nothing of shooting a 24-shot roll per day... Another nice thing is that 35mm cameras are capable of creating 18 x 24 poster size prints with relatively low noise - as you can see from the maximum print chart, the 35mm is still king in large prints (scroll down the page): http://www.design215.com/toolbox/megapixels.php So a 35mm print camera can make nice prints at 50% larger than a 10MP camera. The only current digital camera that I know of that is superior to a 35mm print camera is a 21MP Canon... Yours for $7,500 as a body-only, no lens included.
  24. I was hoping you'd ask... I am in the market for an SLR-like camera as well... I share your loathing for Kodak (I have a Z740). It's a little beyond your $200 price range, but if at all possible, pool your money and get a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28K or the DMC-FZ28S (black or silver versions of the same camera). I actually e-mailed a client about getting this camera when he asked for a recommendation. He just got it from jr.com and it just arrived yesterday. He is really impressed with it, but hasn't really had a chance to use it beyond a few random shots around the house. Here is a modified version of the e-mail I sent him: The Panasonic has 18x zoom, the ability to shoot RAW and Jpeg images, HD (720p) video recorder (1280 x 720p at 30fps = good enough to watch on TV), still photos can be shot in widescreen or standard format, access to many focus modes, including full manual, etc. This camera takes inexpensive SDHC cards. If your daughter is thinking about "getting serious" about photography, this is definitely the camera to get. Reviews of the Panasonic: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/fz8.html (including sample photos taken with the camera -- check out photos at full size) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pleob9tGETA (video review) (video review) The best price I've found for the Panasonic DMC-FZ28K / DMC-FZ28S is at J&R ($269.99 plus about $6.95 for shipping): http://www.jr.com/panasonic/pe/PAN_DMCFZ28K/ (black) http://www.jr.com/panasonic/pe/PAN_DMCFZ28S/ (silver) They have this camera at Newegg.com and Amazon.com, but for more money.
  25. Link to their ad: http://www.inkstop.net/in_store_flyer/IS_main.php Looks like their typical ad -- nothing at blowout prices. The ad has been good since Sunday if that tells you anything. Last year they had a "real" Black Friday sale and were one of my stops. It seems strange to me, but they're still going to open up at 4 AM even though they don't really have anything at a particularly good price. InkStop is a regional retailer.
