Last year was the best! Stood outside Ultimate Electronics... with my cranky mom. Once they let us in we headed for the portable dvd players, I needed 2. Well.... little pricing problem at this store..... they put the 9in ones under the $37.99 sign. The lady at the register said okie dokie... and did the price change... the ones under the sign were to be $149.00. We were so tickled after that.... we didnt remember much else from the day. They came with the case, all the chargers, the car straps, and they had the rotating screens. They were awesome.

Ham can be baked in a crock pot with ..... pinapple rings on it.... covered in brown sugar.... and a coke for the glaze.... yes... I know... coke is weird... but it makes the most pretty caramel colored glaze. We also baste our turkey with beer and butter.... or smoke it on the smoker.

What about a ham and a turkey?

Ok... I am the proud owner of one of these crazy preteen boy things..... I swear they change into something different with the first hint of testosterone. If they have an mp3 player and have access to internet, I recommend a gift card to download songs. Walmart has about the cheapest prices for downloads. Another crazy thing mine loved was... a hand held old-fashioned football game. Like the ones we had as kids. They sell them at Target less than $10.00. If he is into shoes of the odd nature... converse low tops, they come in all sorts of funky styles and patterns. Bought at JCpenny, Journeys, Academy, they run around $40.00. Sometimes they will be on sale at Academy. Hoodies of most any sort, we love Eskimo Joes, they are the Hard Rock of Oklahoma. They have a website and are super durable and come in all sorts of styles and shapes, less than $40.00. Odd ball stocking caps if he wears them, my son has a Harley one that I swear will rot before he throws it away. Flannel sleep pants.... JCpenny and Target has great ones with funky things on them as well as Tshirts that can be used as sleep tops that say things like.... "Will sell sister for video games". Ok... I think I just rattled off my shopping list for this year.

I stink at sewing... and I made one with deer corn and fuzzy socks. I got them, on clearance at gordmans. I just filled them full enough that I could still tie a good knot in the end. My SIL and MIL loved them, they had a matched pair. The warm fuzz was perfect for necks and such. But if I can do it anyone can.

Here is an idea.... start a new tradition with your dd. Spend the same amt of $$ for under the tree... say $50 apiece. Then take her shopping day after Christmas... on the pretense of sales... and get her more. If he is counting presents.... he needs to be in the kid area. I am an only child with 4 kiddos, a yours mine and ours. My mom spends the same on the kids, but does more for me either before Christmas or after as not to hurt anyones feelings.

Holy Cow!!! my best friend made me a deer corn heating pad one year and it is the best. I never even thought of her putting smelly good stuff in it. The deer corn stays warm forever, and we throw it in the microwave then put it at the foot of our bed when its real cold so our feet stay warm and the rest of our bodies comfy.

We bought the Wii play and all 6 of us play it. We also bought a charging dock with rechargeable batteries, but that can go under the tree for someone. It holds the two remotes and keeps them charged for quite a long time. With a family of four ranging in ages from 4-14, we have found we only have needed the one extra nunchuck and only have 2 remotes. We do however have the gamecube remotes to play the other games that my daughter had for her game cube. We dont have broadband connection out here in the sticks. We decided to start with this and then build on what we have according to who was playing it the most.

XBOX 360 or Playstation 3????
jax81772 replied to Dena Neal's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Neither.... get a Wii... we all play it... from um.. adult... my dh has the bowling high score... and my ds4 who loves it. We have 4 from 14 to 4 and everyone plays it almost equally. They even have games like splinter cell and need for speed and guitar hero for it. -
I am just tickled someone else does the Christmas Pj thing.... its a huge deal at our house... to see who has the coolest pjs..... for my ds 12 he gets cool tshirts... the kind that say he will trade his sister for a new video game... and stuff like that.... it makes us all feel special.

We have such a large family... on Thanksgiving... someone chooses a theme and thats what we have. Most of us have at minimum 2 dinners to go to, last year we hosted for the family, and we had italian food. The year before it was Mexican, we love the change of pace. However, the other side of the family wants traditional all the way.

Still had backpacks left at 75% off. In the food section they had 3pks of Clorox wipes for 7.49 they were only 15% off. I think I will check on them later this week. Each one had 80 count in it. Also found the Choxie stuff and found a couple tins for a stocking. Will it still be good in Dec??? -
We play Apples to Apples and Fact or Crap and Mexican Train. The kids and old people playing A to A at the same time is too funny. We also have farkle, phase 10, and rumikub. Its a numbers game.... great for kids who need practice on problem solving.

Ok... I finally scored a Wii... I finally found someone at Walmart who knew what he was doing. I called and he looked it up in the computer and told me which walmart locations had Wii left in stock in the surrounding towns. 3 had them, he even game me the numbers at the stores, the last store I called still had 8 in stock. A small tiny town in rural Oklahoma, so I just treked over there about 40 min. away and got it... YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need help finding some books for my daughter..
jax81772 replied to Gumball's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
See if your town has a Used book store, I set my kids up their own account and they love going and looking and trading when they are done. They also have new books that can be bought. You might also ask her teacher when the Book Fair is at her school. Since we live in the country we also have a lot of Golden Book Guides around the house for tree id, weeds, bugs, and stuff. They are small and have lots of pictures, even if she doesnt "get" everything in it she will love being able to walk outside and see whats in her books. They can be found in most book stores or if there is a college campus anywhere close they carry them usually as well. The local zoo might have something as well. You might look into getting her national geographic for kids magazine. I know they have a website for kids. Have fun.... if all else fails see if the library has something. -
Worst.... The used baskets my sister in law gave me for the last 3 years for EVERY holiday... bday and christmas. I know they were Longabeger... but they werent in great shape... and my house is done in Ducks and Dogs... no froo froo baskets.... lol.. I used them to put paper plates in... but... I finally traded them to my cousin (who collects the baskets) for her gently used entertainment center to hold my new tv... so in the end it turned out to be the best gift.

The only other option might be used... at like GameExchange, Game Stop, or Vintage Stock, I dont know if you ave any of those in your area. They really dont go on sale much, but you might try those places or anything like that in your area. -

They do have the controllers at sams in a 3pack... for $75.00, however they have no Wii consoles. I complained to the manager that they had this big display for the Wii system with these cardboard things to take up front to the service desk to get the actual thing... but nooooooooooo they dont have any up front and didnt have a sign on the display either saying they were out of stock... but they did have the controllers.
