  1. Oops ... Wasn't thinking about the corn when I said cornbread
  2. I have some experience with this--dd10 has allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, mustard, peas, and spinach (she used to also be allergic to oats), and dd15 and I were diagnosed with celiac disease about 7 yrs ago, so no wheat, rye, or barley for us. It seems overwhelming at the beginning, but it's nots so bad, and your son should be able to eat most of the foods he likes. For starters, turkey is generally safe (just check the labels for any fillers). Just don't put the stuffing in the turkey-- cook it separately, or, if the rest of the family insists, and he likes white meat, we just usually cook a small turkey breast for those who can't eat wheat. Cranberries are safe, and have him choose a vegetable that he would like, and just keep that simple for him. Rolls at a little tougher (we haven't really found any we like yet), but if he like cornbread Kruseaz has a gluten free version that should be really good ( haven't tried it yet, but recently discovered their gluten free muffin and brownie mixes that are delicious!), or just have some bread for him (Udi's brand us really good). Potatoes and sweet potatoes are safe foods, so no problem there. If you have a Woodman's store nearby, you can even get a personal gluten free pumpkin pie in their gluten free freezer section, although I have not checked all the ingredients in that and it may have some of his other allergens. I hope this has helped and you and your son have a great Thanksgiving this year!

  4. I was at Best Buy last month looking at the Nintendo Ds and DSi and games for them, and an employee told me they were coming out with a new version of the DS that is 3D around Christmastime. You will not need 3d glasses.
  5. Thank you for everyone's replies. I have decided to get her the Kaya. I think she is going to be so excited when she opens it up!
  6. I want to get an American Girl doll for my DD8, who has just started getting into reading the books. This is a surprise for her as she has never asked for one, but we do get the catalog in the mail. I have looked through the catalogs with her and asked her which ones she likes best, but have tried not to be too obvious as this will be a present from Santa. I have narrowed it down to 3 choices, but am having a very difficult time making a final decision. Here are my 3 choices along with the pros and cons of each: Kaya pros - this is the one she liked best when I asked her. It is something different as there are not many Native American dolls. My daughter (although she is blonde, blue-eyed, and light skinned) is about 1/32 Native American (her Great-Great Grandmother was Native American), and I think she feels a connection to her ancestors since we have no other connection with my husband's side of the family. cons - will this be a doll she can play with particularly with the clothing she wears? I am concerned she will not play with it because she will be afraid it will not stay nice. Although I could buy just some regular clothes to show her that Native American children are just like other American children. Molly pros - this is my favorite of the dolls. She is so cute and I love her braids and glasses (my daughter wears glasses). I really like the story behind this doll and I think she would be able to share it with her Great Grandma who we visit often and will have a stronger connection with her because of the Depression stories. I think they would bond deeper talking about Molly and her stories. Also there is a movie coming out this Thanksgiving about Molly and I think that might increase her interest in this doll. cons - this doll was not very high up on my daughter's want list. Just Like You doll pros - somewhat high on my daughter's list. I could get a doll that looks just like my daughter with the blonde hair (and braid it), blue eyes, and also get a pair of glasses. I could get them a matching outfit. cons - it does not have the historical significance behind it with the books and stories that she enjoys reading. It would just be another doll. Does anyone have any opinions which way I should go? Every time I think I will make a choice, I think of one of the other ones and I completely change my mind. I would like to make a decision soon, as they have free shipping from their website until November 21.
  7. I already bought mine for DD4 at Toys R Us also. But I did notice that at Walmart they had some in special packaging that included the Leapster (green), the carrying case, and a game (I believe it was Letterpillar or something like that). I wanted to find out how much they were, but I couldn't reach them--they were all up way up above the aisles. Too bad they were all green ones though, cause I am only interested in the pink one.
