  1. Lowering the resolution will make things a little more blurry (as it does on nearl all LCD monitors when you go lower than the native res) but it is by no means unusable. To be honest, if you plan on using it at a lower resolution then you might want to consider a different model as the nice screen is one of the main benefits of the 700m.
  2. For what you need, the 700m is a good choice as Ross mentioned. I got mine for $800 ($500 coupon and $200 rebate cut the price down from $1500). The regular battery is not that great, so as Ross suggested, I'd get the extended battery. The keyboard is fine - although it is somewhat small because of the overall small size of the laptop. The screen is absolutely beautiful and is extremely bright and the high resolution on the 12" screen makes everything very sharp. Just my impressions from ~6 months of using it.
  3. We have a Toshiba DVD/VCR that's about 2 1/2 years old now. Bought it when they were going for $200. Never had a problem.

Looks like the reviews on Amazon on this particular model are mixed. I heard that Toshiba is using lower-quality components for some of their cheaper models now (basically relying on their brand name to sell them), but I don't know if this is the case with it or not.

  7. Yeah, I switched it to RSS 2.0.

When we launch the new site design, we'll see about having other feeds in addition to this one, and will include the deal descriptions in the feeds as well.

  8. Just today I started working on the user customization features of the new site. I have decided to tie it in with the forum, so there will be one login. When you log in, you'll be logged in to both the forum and the main site, so any customizations you make will be saved and retained every time you log in. Before we launch the new site, you'll have to log out and then log back in to have the changes take effect, but that's a long time away.

So now I'd like to know what kinds of things you would like to be able to customize on the main site. Not everything will be possible just because of how the site is organized, but here are some things that I'm 95% sure you will be able to change:

    * how many deals on the home page (either a set number or X days worth)

    * categories of deals on the home page (include/exclude specific categories)

    * retailers of deals on the home page (include/exclude specific retailers)

    * include or exclude deals that involve mail-in rebates on the home page

    * theme for the site - new design, "classic" (current design), or "lite"

    * manage your subscriptions to the "Daily Deal Update" and possible new deal alerts

    * display or not display product images for each deal

Those are just some things. Like I said, suggestions are welcome. What else would you like to be able to control?
