The customization stuff is working very well. It should really help those who don't want as many deals per page or who have slower connections. Still taking suggestions though :)
-
Are you referring to a version of the forum for PPCs? Cause we already have a stripped down mobile version of the main site that works fine on most PDAs.
-
How much are you looking to spend? (that's the typical "buy me some time before i have to start looking" question around here, lol)

I asked this in the main thread for the new site design but I think it kind of got lost, so I thought I'd make a new thread for it. Right now I am working on the code for the user customization aspects of the new site. As of now, these are the types of things you will most likely be able to customize: * how many deals shown (either a set number of deals or number of days worth) [home page only] * categories of deals (include/exclude specific categories) [home page only] * retailers of deals (include/exclude specific retailers) [home page only] * include or exclude deals that involve mail-in rebates [home page only] * theme for the site - new design, "classic" (current design), or "lite" * manage your subscriptions to the "Daily Deal Update" and possible new deal alerts * display or not display product images for each deal [entire site] Most of these customizations will mainly apply to the home page because the majority of people coming to the site only look at the home page, unless they are searching for something specific, and in that case there will be better ways to do that as well. So with that being said... Are there any other aspects of the site layout/design that you would like to be able to customize? And I am still taking suggestions for any other features you'd like to see that are not related to the customization stuff, so you can use this thread or the other "main" thread for those as well. Let your voice be heard

Microsoft BX3-00001 Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse
Brad replied to Travmakar's topic in Online Hot Deals
Yep, when the link is clicked it gets converted "on the fly". -
keep in mind that each deal will still have both the product image and the main title which will be linked to the actual deal on the retailer's site, just like they do now.
-
As I continue working on GottaDeal v3, I have a usability question for everyone that uses the site: Assume every deal posted on the main site had a small logo for the retailer that deal was from. Where would you assume/prefer that clicking on that retailer logo graphic takes you to?

I don't know if the EPP account will accept the coupon - you can try and find out. I doubt we'd get the commission going through EPP, but don't worry about that. :)

These are some of the cheaper options: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002UU4LS http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000D17BF http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10382326 http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10391408 Which is the best option depends on what features you need (DVI, integrated speakers, color, etc...). Because it's so close to the beginning of the month, there might be new rebates offered on these or other monitors in the same price range. As for the better brands, those are going to be so close in price to the Dell that it might not be worth it all things considered, but I'll see what I can find.

Well if you are going to get a 19", like you said you won't get better than the Dell, so I'll look for some 17" models. Gimme a few minutes

Brad replied to GottaDEAL's topic in Online Hot Deals
lol. well either way, the range doesn't really matter for this item, since you will most likely using it a few feet from your phone at the max, and your phone probably has a small range itself. -

IOGear Class 2 Bluetooth Wireless Headset - $29.99 Shipped - Buy.com
Brad replied to GottaDEAL's topic in Online Hot Deals
Actually Class 1 has a range of around 100m (300 feet) and Class 2 is around 10m (30 feet). Obviously for something like this there is no need for the increased range of a Class 1 device as you will not typically be over 30 feet from your phone when using this headset. -

Buy.com is also a good place to get the labels. Dymo LabelWriter 330 Thermal Label Printer - $54.99 Shipped - Buy.com
Brad replied to GottaDEAL's topic in Online Hot Deals
yep. very hot deal. you no longer get the free personal label printer with it, but the price drop more than makes up for that. direct link: http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10277276 this is one of those things where you don't realize how much you could use it until you get it. a must have for heavy ebay sellers -
The Daily Deal Update will be combined with the user login system, so when you are logged in, you'll be logged into the forum, the main site (with your preferences loaded) and you'll be able to modify your e-mail subscription(s).

Need advice on buying a Garmin StreetPilot 2620 GPS!
Brad replied to Metallica_Band's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
From the reviews on Amazon, it doesn't look like many people are having problems, so you could probably get away with not having warranty as it looks like you will not need it most likely.
