OK, I'm done adding almost 300 items to the database. I might have missed a few of the smaller things, but that's all I'm doing now. My fingers hurt The more popular items will be linked to the CompUSA web site soon.

Not-so-great deals + midnight opening (when most people are sleeping or waiting for other stores to open) could mean low sales.

The prices I am posting on the Black Friday site do not require any AOL signup to get it at that price. Also one one of the pages it says: "Not all products are available in all stores, but they are available online" so you might have good luck for some items online

As I type these up, I'm also really unimpressed. For so many I'm thinking "you can get that cheaper online right now". I'm sure there will be a few deals, but those stupid AOL rebates really kill any of the good deals. Might as well advertise things like; 42" Plasma HDTV - $9.99* *$2999.99 - $2990.00 that you borrowed from your dad = $9.99 final price

Yep, that's a big let down. And it's kind of shady for them to put the after-rebate prices so big in the ad. I'll be including the "real" prices when I add them to the database

CompUSA Ad Scans have been released :) Items will be added to the database on the BF site shortly for you to add to your shopping list. We suggest you save the file to your hard drive just in case we are forced to remove the ads later for whatever reason. Can't open the zip? Try this PDF version instead. Also, keep in mind that in order to save bandwidth, provide an exclusive benefit to you, our members, and to prevent hotlinking, you need to click on the link from this site in order to access the file. If you post the URL on another site, they will just be redirected to our BF home page where they can register for the forum to access the ad. OK, closing this thread. Thanks to everyone who replied. If you are still seeing the old server, just be patient - you'll eventually get it :)

New server shows up for both www and non-www for me, so for those who are still seeing the old server, the switch should happen in the next few hours

That will be a feature of next year's site :) Along with a lot more surprises.

The problems with the ads and shopping lists should be fixed. If anyone is still having problems, post here with detailed descriptions

Looks like our new server was not set up the way it should have been. I've got the sale ads working, and the shopping list should be working shortly. If you are still getting the old server, give it some time - it'll happen eventually once your ISP gets the changes.

For some reason the scripts are not recognizing the arguments (such as store/category name, etc...) and they are just showing the entire list of ads. We are looking into this now and should have it fixed very shortly.

I know some people are getting the new server for both versions based on the traffic, so it's likely that your ISP has not grabbed the changes yet (neither has mine), but eventually everyone should be hitting the new server. I'll keep both servers up until we know everyone is getting the new one.

Because of the huge traffic we're getting (and the fact that it's going to get even more crazy over the next 2+ weeks), we are moving just the BF site to another server just for itself. The forum and main GD site are staying on their current server, so there won't be any forum downtime. I made the changes this morning, but I'd like to make sure they are starting to take effect. So here is what I'd like you to do: Go to http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com Look at the top section for latest news. Check the date for the first entry titled "First rumored KMart Thanksgiving Day ad items posted!". If you see November 7th, you are viewing the old server and if you see November 8th, you are seeing the new server. Also try http://www.blackfriday.gottadeal.com (with the added www) and see what happens. Then reply to this thread letting me know which server you are hitting. Thanks :)

Until any of these can be confirmed, we are not going to post them on the main BF site. We were doubtful of the list that came out last night which is why they were not posted immediately.
