We're getting a lot of posts about purchasing Black Friday deals online. As we do every year, we have that covered in every possible way: First, we have a list of ad items that can be ordered online NOW at Black Friday prices. Considering that the laptop isn't even a doorbuster, no it's not really a deal. You can hope they add a laptop to the doorbusters when/if they announce the "extra" items online this week, but otherwise you are better off waiting for Dell or one of the other online retailers to have a better deal.

The term "Black Friday" is meaningless as the stores have ruined it this year with their "pre-BF" sales every week on November. They've flung around the term to try and fool the average consumer into thinking the deals are true Black Friday-quality deals, which in 90% of the cases they aren't. We all know that "Cyber Monday" as well is 90% hype created by the NRF to help sales on that Monday, but for the most part, the deals sites have are less impressive than their BF deals and pretty much the same as what they've had online all year. So just don't be fooled and you'll be fine. The average GDer is smart enough to know what's really a deal and what isn't. We can separate the hype from the truth :)

The issue is that like with BF ads, the weekly ads for the next 4 weeks until Christmas have also been prepared in advance, so if BF sale numbers are weak, the only real option is to promote extra sales online. There will definitely be BF-"quality" deals in the next month, but there just won't ever be as many as there are on BF. I'd expect the online retailers to really increase their deals after BF as they have the flexibility to change prices at a moment's notice.
