Thank you all! My son is home and recovery is - difficult. He has terrible headaches and no sense of taste, He’s frustrated that he can’t go to school or play his beloved hockey. His younger brother just left for a tournament with my husband, so that’s rough. I do believe that he will recover 100% but he is worried about falling behind his sophomore year that just started, and how much muscle mass he will lose before he can put on skates again. I keep telling him that he is here for a reason, and this will all work out. And we have so much to be thankful for. He can walk. He knows who he is and where he is, and he can remember most things except for what happened that night (which is good). We learned that if his head had been turned a different way, or the bike that he was on had been moving, he would probably not be here with us today. We are hoping that his next CT scan will show improvement, and we can start to make plans for his return to normal. Right now it’s just sit and wait, and IDK if you know anything about 15YO boys, but patience is not their virtue lol8 points

Lots of birthdays for my family this month. 3 of my grands, 1 of my kids, and my own. A week from tomorrow, I will be having my hip replaced. When you search for recovery stories, they are all over the place but I intend to be getting up and around by Black Friday! Admittedly, most of my shopping is done online, and I will happily rely on my son to go pick up any packages that get delivered to the post office instead of my front porch . BUT, I still go out on BF bright and early every year. If I have to swallow my pride and be seen using a walker in public, well, that's just what I'll have to do .6 points

So sorry to hear about your son. A lifetime ago, I was hit by a car that ran a stop sign. I was on a motorcycle. The police asked my parents to come to Anna Jacques hospital to 'identify the body'. By the time my parents arrived at the hospital, the prognosis was better. Initially, the surgeons advised my parents that they would not amputate my left arm because most people prefer a useless arm that can be inserted in a jacket and posited in a pocket to no arm at all. Well, it's been half a century since, and use of my left arm is nearly 90%. Keep the faith. If your son's physicians promise you anything less than 100% recover, find a new doctor.6 points

I retired in May. As a consequence, I am free to do whatever I want without regard to compelling commitments. Again, as a consequence, I am free to get up late or very early. For the first time in nearly a decade, I anticipate standing in line for some store opening BF. Not so much for the Door Busters as for the nostalgia. Brad, send me a t-shirt and I will post a picture or me in this shirt in line on BF in New Hampshire -- with no consideration for weather or temperature. I am having SO much fun being a teenager again.6 points

Happy August! My oldest started his senior year at Temple University today, and my luger started her junior year in high school today as well. My youngest boy, who is moving to Seattle for school three weeks from Wednesday, is home today recovering from having his wisdom teeth removed on Friday. Gotta get all of the medical stuff done before he leaves, because we don't know when he'll be back. I picked up my luger in Lake Placid last weekend, and she is done until she flies out to Salt Lake City on November 3 for her first in season training camp. Then it's a whirlwind til mid March, including traveling to Latvia and Germany for 6 weeks starting right after the new year. It's going to be a very long winter with just my husband and I, lol. While Kendall was in Lake Placid training up with the next level team, her current level team coach sought her out to give her the medal she earned for her 3rd place overall finish for last season, which is probably the nicest medal she's ever received. Also while she was there, she took part in the Starts Championships, and placed 2nd among the upper level team. And while I was in LP for a few days before bringing her home, I got to watch her practicing her starts, and she established a new personal record for herself that day. So, she's had a very good summer! This month's pics and video are of her medal, her second place finish in the starts championships, and her PR start. The next couple of month's posts will be a little more boring with no luge, lol. VID_1753499669112.mp4 20250815_140245.mp46 points

My son and I have been stocking up on Lego Winter Village sets all year long and we will begin assembling them 1st of October. Not many big "must have" items anymore so we are anticipating the season more than just a day.4 points

Just went to the old ones being posted. Circuit City was showing. Man I miss some of the old stores. Guess I’m old I prefer to be able to hold what I buy at the point I buy it. I find myself shopping Amazon less and less every year. Didn’t buy a thing this Amazon days sale.4 points

The past few years we have been out of town for Thanksgiving, so I am excited to cook it again. It'll just be three of us so nothing elaborate but homemade!3 points

With so many different sales happening throughout October, November and December it can be a little overwhelming to keep track of everything. We have several ways to stay updated with all the new ads and sales that we post: 1. Sign up for our email newsletter. We'll email you about the latest sales and ads as well as the best deals we're finding throughout Q4. 2. Follow the Sale & Ad Discussion forum. On this page, there will be a light blue "Follow" button (on the top of the page if you're on a tablet/desktop and on the bottom of page if you're on a phone). You can get notified when we post new threads in this forum for each ad, sale or catalog. 3. Follow us on Bluesky, Facebook , Instagram and/or Threads. We'll post updates on these accounts including when we post new ads or learn about upcoming sales. 4. Bookmark our Black Friday news page and check it regularly for the latest updates. This page also will have a list of ads we've posted, upcoming sales and more.3 points

No luge this month, so I may as well check in for September, lol. We are setting up a table at a yard sale that my workplace is having on Saturday to familiarize people with the sport of luge, and to hopefully sell the remainder of her fundraiser stuff. A local business is donating a banner for us to use, and we will have a display of Kendall's medals, news articles, and pictures taken through the years, so I guess this month's pics will be the banner design that will be used, and the picture display that is almost done. Happy September - the first BF ad should be out any day, right? LOL3 points

Wanna know one of the only good things about being up at 4 AM ....I can check in for a new prizeclub month...here for Sept.3 points

Well, work day tomorrow and back to school on Wednesday. It doesn't look like it will be any cooler and, even though the school is air conditioned, that doesn't man anything in the cafeteria. It gets unbearably hot! The employee who gave us so much trouble with her attendance last school year is moving to a different position in the school. We found this out less than a week before school starts, leaving us a person short to begin the year. Wish us luck!3 points

It's been a rough last month or so at work, with the start of the school year. My husband also works with me, and our son works in an adjacent industry (with one of our vendors actually), so have all been wiped out. Things are finally getting slightly calmer, so we are looking forward to that. I did a big thing today though. I went to my supervisor and told him a wanted a title change, and presented documents outlining what the title should be and why. It went really well and he promised he would have discussions about it. But, I know it's a long shot because it has to go up a few levels for approval, and there are others with my current title who would then want the same. But we'll see. The important thing is that I took up for myself, and was taken seriously.3 points

For those who are unaware we have a GottaDEAL server on Discord for everyone to chat about Black Friday, deals or whatever else comes up. Here's the invite link: https://discord.gg/3hd2K5t If you're unfamiliar with Discord, it is a free chat service. You can access it via their dedicated apps for phones or tablets, or through a traditional web browser. Once you sign up for an account you can join the GD server using the special invite link above and can chat with everyone else who has signed up. Currently there are #general, #food and #tech channels for more off-topic chat and the main #blackfriday channel for discussing Black Friday. There's also a #contest channel that we'll use for some giveaways over the next few months and a #deals channel where we'll be posting some of the hottest deals, in-stock alerts for hot items, preorder opportunities and more. Sign up if you haven't and we'll see you there!2 points

hmm… I just had a thought (a very bed habit) (I know) Could we start a similar channel on the Discord to the Prize Club Thread here on the forums? Something to keep the Discord active year round?2 points

As we do every year in early September we've opened the various sub-forums here to unofficially start our coverage of the Black Friday & holiday shopping season. As the day of Black Friday itself remains less significant we'll continue with the "Sale & Ad Discussion" forum having threads not only for Black Friday ads but also for many of the additional sales and catalogs that get posted on the site, whether they take place on Black Friday or not.2 points

Black Friday is still significant to me! I am so excited to be able to go out and shop this year.2 points

Rosh HaShanah is only two weeks away! Followed by Break Fast for Yom Kippur, Dia de Muertos, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, and many others I may not be aware of. I look forward to seeing everyone’s menus and photos of their Festive Meals as the season progresses.2 points

I'm going to start collecting addresses for your prizes. If you're one of the 40 still in the club, send me a message here on the forum with the title 'Prize Club Address' and include your name and full shipping address. I'll chase down whoever I don't hear from in a couple weeks.2 points

Yep. Same. No chance of order cancellation if we're walking out the door with our items already in hand.2 points

I have a feeling it’s going to be a little worse with all the tariffs taking their toll on deals. I also think it’s going to be so spread out that it’s going to be hard to determine if the deals will be any better with the later sales.2 points

I’m a firm believer that recovery is as much mental as it is physical. If he believes he will be better and then puts in the hard work things will get better.2 points

I thought I had somehow missed the 100 day countdown post. There wasn't one, so I checked last year and there wasn't one then either. Thinking I've lost my mind, I went searching and I had to go all the way back to 2021 to find a 100 days! post from Brad . I guess I'm just living in the past. I've decided that's okay though, because I like it here. **I realize the 100 day mark doesn't mean much when BF doesn't happen on BF anymore. BUT, that said... 95 days till Black Friday y'all!!2 points

Yep, %. My two raised beds are also in a community garden, which is located in a County park. It is amazing how many patrons of the park read “Community Garden” on the signage and interpret that as “the public can help themselves” as if it is a U-pick operation. Our biggest problem is deer and voles, though. Thankfully the voles focus more on the in-ground plots than the raised beds, but the deer definitely liked my corn last year. I tend to like the tomatoes to ripen on the vines to about 70%; more than that and I risk losing them. When I harvested the tomatoes above, all the rest were bright green. We started to get the rain that night, and when I returned to the garden the next day some of the tomatoes were turning yellow-ish, but not really blushing at all yet. I left them on the vines, and the rain continued through the night, but had let up this morning. When I checked on the tomatoes again, some of the larger green ones had stretch marks, but the skins had not actually cracked. The yellow-ish ones were the same, although the stretch marks were more pronounced. But none were actually cracked yet. I went ahead and left them on the vines to turn more red than yellow. Hopefully the stretch marks won’t get any worse.2 points

Yesterday my landlords and I attended a pot luck brunch game party. We brought a brunch enchilada casserole made by my landlord and I made blintz casserole with homemade strawberry glaze/pie filling and homemade blueberry pie filling to be used as toppings. We also brought along sour cream to use as a topping for both casseroles as well. The hosts made French toast, and the other couple in attendance brought a variety of sausage. Frozen blintzes layered in stoneware in a single layer and rolled to coat in melted butter Soufflé batter poured around and over the blintzes Puffy and slightly browned Enchilada Casserole My plate, starting from 12 noon and going clockwise: French Toast My Blintz Cassetole tipped with strawberry, blueberry, and sour cream Enchilada Casserole topped with sour cream Various pieces of sausage2 points

How are we already almost halfway into August? Eesh... Time's been flying. Little miss Mew (in my profile pic here) has been trying to give mama a heart attack lately with some health issues. Not entirely unexpected at 17.5 years old but I could do without the couple of emergency vet bills I've had to deal with when she apparently was just battling a bug of some sort. Antibiotics and time and she's back to being her spunky self. Go figure. No clue how long I still have with her but these past few weeks have made me more appreciative of the little things like the special moments when she chooses to curl up next to me vs in one of her other favorite spots, when she comes to me looking for attention, etc. This coming weekend is the annual Woodward Dream Cruise. As a classic car lover, this is one of the events I look forward to each year. I know the traffic on Woodward drives some locals crazy (and I get it) but I love being amongst all the cars from days gone by. Memories of being a kid and riding with Mom or Dad (or both) and having them tell me what the cars were and some little fact about them when we'd see one on the road. I'll be down there Saturday morning/early afternoon before I head into my weekend "side gig", camera in hand to capture some of the best and share with my fellow car lovers. Looking ahead to the end of the month, I am headed back to Cedar Point and will actually have my coaster buddy back with me, as she's been able to work in a couple days off to come back up for another quick visit. I'm happy to have her join me for that run since I know she loves the coasters as much (or more) than even I do. The day she heads home is actually opening day for one of my favorite local orchards, so we're talking about her potentially staying late enough for a quick orchard visit before she starts the trek back to her place. She's not been up here for that before - firsts are always fun and... She could take some fresh orchard doughnuts home. Bonus. lol2 points

Cruise ship people watching is a very close second if it doesn't top airports... Did you post the list of 40 remaining members somewhere? I'm pretty sure I stood the test of time this year, but not great at keeping track1 point

Here are plain text lists of the items in the ads (at least the ones in our database) dating back to 2003: 2003 - 2004 - 2005 - 2006 - 2007 - 2008 - 2009 - 2010 - 2011 - 2012 - 2013 2014 - 2015 - 2016 - 2017 - 2018 - 2019 - 2020 - 2021 - 2022 - 2023 - 2024 And as always you can also visit the Black Friday Archive to browse over 1,400 historical Black Friday ad scans going back to 2000. Several older ads from 2000-2003 were added since last year. Additional older ads will be added soon. Also you can browse the Black Friday forum archives to relive past discussions, see when ads were leaked in a particular year, etc.1 point
