I thought considering this is 3 months since the last "real" $750 off that there would be a new one this week, but I guess Dell doesn't need the sales that much this quarter. The "real" $750 off unrestricted coupon came in October and April. It did not happen in January, so maybe they are going going to do it twice a year. For Q4, they probably get enough sales because of the holidays to not need to have it. And they've had a lof of these restricted $750 coupons this quarter which have probably increased sales. Like RossMAN said, the 700m deal is very hot. When you compare that deal to what has been in the Sunday ads lately, it blows it away (as do most of these configurations). edmicman Posted July 14, 2005 Share Posted July 14, 2005 Basically I'm looking for a laptop for my girl :-D I've got a 600m myself that is great, but I think the 6000 would probably work best for her. I think out of those options above I'd say either the screen or the hard drive is the most important. I've got a desktop that has a DVD burner if we need it, but we're not at the point where we're burning many dvd's anyway. Really, the most important things for a laptop for me is that it has 512MB of RAM and XP Pro on it. I know I can get both of those elsewhere (heck, I've still got my student copy of XP), but I'm lazy and would rather have it come pre-installed and setup rather than mess with it myself :-P. A decent sized hard drive is important, too, but I don't know if she'd notice much difference between 40 and 60 gigs if there was just the basic installation stuff on there. Maybe I'll play with the configurations some more and see what I can get....thanks! Also, the links in the OP aren't working for me? "Document contains no data" or something? Maybe its just me.... It's more than adequate for watching DVD's or light gaming. I do not believe it's upgradeable. Definitely get the minimal 256MB RAM and buy RAM from Crucial.com or NewEgg.com It's very quick and easy to upgrade the RAM. Two small screws, insert the new RAM, screw it back on and you're done. And if it does "over shoot" they HAVE TO contact you and get your okay to delay your order. If not, they get fined by the feds. Depending on where you are in the country, you will have it generally about 3 days after it leaves the factory. You can keep track of your order online and see where in the process it is. No, I have ordered roughly $30,000+ of Dell equipment in the past few years. 80% of the time they usually overshoot the ship date. Then again it depends on the parts they have on hand, and other factors. I'm just sharing my 5+ years of experience in ordering from the Dell web site.
