Go for the open bowl type. I had the chiminea one and all the heat went up the chimney. I recently got the open bowl type with tile around the edges and Love it, Love it, Love it!

My fire pit was free. It's not pretty but but we just use it for campfires. Mine is an old tire rim. Works perfectly and was free.

Have you tried looking on line and building your own? I am actually thinking of this for my backyard. Some look really great.

Try Kmart if u have one near u. There were some 70% off in with the seasonal summer items.

Check target. I know they are doing 50% off on their grills and such. I am also looking at one it is the one that had the plastic ice bucket so It can be used for either a fire or just a big cooler. Living in Fl. this seemed really neat.
