hannahs_momma Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 FREE: 5 federal e-files and unlimited printed returns included with every TurboTax 2008 product.
Cinnamonhuskies Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 that stinks, I bought my Turbo Tax at Amazon at the beginning of this month....I could have got another $10....waa.
ukdebc Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 FYI If anyone needs to file multiple states the cost per additional state is $34.95 as a "preparation fee", then $18 to efile each state.... I figured that using TT this year (for the 7th year) will cost me $130 .... think it is time to rethink just using the same software.....
rogueleader Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Many of these services are available from the same companies online. The website versions of the software are often cheaper or even free. If you go through the IRS website and choose Free File it will give you a list of options. The IRS requires companies to provide Free Filing services to those under a certain income however many companies have either no income restrictions or fairly high ones. Just watch what you are doing they constantly try to upgrade you to the pay service throughout.
lovetoshopCA Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 be sure you are getting unlimited free prints. they changed this year and were charging something like $10 every time you print it. So if you want to review it or something, that makes a problem. We are switching because we file multiple returns for our businesses and they wanted to keep charging each time. what joke!

So if you want to review it or something, that makes a problem. We are switching because we file multiple returns for our businesses and they wanted to keep charging each time. what joke!Intuit has changed the program and the charging issue after they received so many complaints and bad reviews of their 2008 product...here's a link to Intuit's response to all the complaints about charging for returns posted on Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/review/product/B001GLAVVU/ref=cm_cr_dp_hist_3?_encoding=UTF8&showViewpoints=0&filterBy=addThreeStar Also, here's an article discussing the issue. http://www.s-consult.com/2008/12/15/intuit-changes-mind-regarding-turbotax-2008-fees-now-allows-unlimited-federal-filing-and-up-to-5-e-files/ Once you get your TT product and run an update, you should not experience any $9.95 fees as were originally in the product.
elite2058 Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Intuit caved in (12/11/2008) to the mounting critcism of their GREEDY $10 charge for each additional return. Now you can print up to five returns.http://news.cnet.com/8301-1001_3-10121444-92.htmlI like turbotax, but I usually wait to see if Costco gets their coupons out, because last year they gave additional monies off of it with the coupon. Their regular price for the above edition is $49.99.
elite2058 Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I found this from last year Costco has it for $20.99, limited time 1/14-1/20/08 (after $15 off) Reg.$35.99So Hopefully they have a similiar sale this year.
Cinnamonhuskies Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 If you have a fairly simple return you can do it online free, but we use the personal+business TT because it gets complicated. My son files online.
Crue2001 Posted December 28, 2008 Author Posted December 28, 2008 Bumping because the price has dropped to $47.99 and the $10 credit offer is still active.
goldie Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 I got Costco coupon. It's only $10 off, and I think Intuit raised the TT price this year. So at Costco, it's $45 -$10 = $35.
elite2058 Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Intuit increased the price because it includes e-filing free this year.
goldie Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Where did you get the Costco coupon?I always get it in the mail from Costco. I guess you could always ask the front desk if you don't get one.
Crue2001 Posted December 29, 2008 Author Posted December 29, 2008 I don`t see the 10.00 offer anymoreThe $10 credit was only good thru 12/28.
