For a 10 year old...she has the iPod Nano on her wish list (and the girl still believes in Santa Claus! :) )...which one is better and why? Anyone know? And will there be any deals do you think between now and Christmas? I know that TRU has the buy one $99 and up, you get a iTunes gc. But will there be anything else? And is this a popular BF item?

TIA!!

Not to confuse... but the Creative Zen (8gb) is on sale now at Walmart special online sale for $98. looks like it has a miniscreen for showing videos... http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=1025920&dest=9999999996&sourceid=37753586693784719886

That might be an option too...

I have some questions maybe someone can help.

I made a boo-boo, a few days ago I ordered the ZEN, I was wanting Zune, but my mind wasn't with me that day... So it is on the way to my house.

Question 1 - Can I just take it to the store and return it?

2- Has anyone heard this: that the Zen is great except that it has major compatibility problems with computers that have Windows Media Player 11?-of course that is what I have on my computer! This is the main reason I now want to return it. I can't recall where I read the review, but I wanted to know if anyone else heard this.

3- do you all think I'd be better off with something other than the Zen? I want 4-8 GB and ability for video on it, and EASY to use.

And another player to recommend would be the Sansa FUZE:

2GB for $79.99, 4GB for $99.99, or 8GB for $119.99. It has a MicroSD card slot so you can easily expand for more storage!

Compatible with Yahoo! Music, Rhapsody To Go, Napster, & eMusic.

Plays music, videos and photos...

Guided tour: http://go.shopsansa.com/content/fuzegt

For more storage, the Sansa VIEW goes up to 32GB: http://go.shopsansa.com/content/view

I have a little Sansa Clip (4GB) and I think it's great. Speaker systems are available for both the FUZE and the VIEW.

i've had both an ipod nano and a zune. i much prefer the zune to the ipod nano. you can put up background pictures, listen to the radio, and wirelessly sync it. the zune is also much sturdier which i think is important to look at, especially when you would be buying it for a 10 year old. the only downside that i have encountered with my zune is buying accessories for it. there aren't as many options to choose from.

I bought both my son (11) and daughter (9) the 30gb Zunes last Xmas for $89 each. I've loaded a ton of music, videos, and movies on both and they still have plenty of room. For the reliability and hd space, I don't think you can beat the value.

Wow, 30 gb for that price, was that a special BF sale, or where did you find it?

I missed the 30gb zune at TRU last year but snatched one from Dell the very next day for $90 and free shipping. I am now looking for another MP3 for DD this year. I am not picky about the maker but I'm looking for one that is at least 30gb and will download movies. The Zen is also a voice recorder (great for college). Which ever is the best deal for the most gb's is what Im lookin for. Dell also has refurbished ones that also come with the warranty for those lookin for something a tad cheaper. Also Buy (dot) com sometimes has some good deals.

Zune is a Media player based player so it works really easy with Microsoft Windows programs.

Also easier when you use your own CD collection for music(wma ) files.

I do not like iTunes.

You may find a close out on 4GB Zunes since they have been discontinued

Thanks for your reply, I just returned my Zen today. :( The sales associate was drooling over it.

Now I know that Zune is the way to go since I have Windows Media player 11.

Can anyone tell me (please don't laugh) How do you get movies/videos downloaded onto a Zune or MP3 ?

I have only ever downloaded music from Walmart and I never ever saw and option to download a whole movie or a video..

Also if I get the Zune does someone know the best site that I need to download the videos/movies from?

Have you tried looking at Amazon Unbox? I know that it works with Zens but I'm not sure about the Zune.

Zune also has an FM tuner which no Ipod will ever have. They are also introducing a new feature with the FM tuner. The radio stations broadcast an inaudible signal to your Zune telling you the song and you have the ability to buy the download if you are into buying songs. Just another thing you can look at.

You can although buy the radio as an add on the the ipod... personally I'd go with the Zune and partly is this...

Bought the 80 for my son in june- it started having issues- he called Microsoft and boom they had us send it back free of course and REPLACED it with a brand new one!( we bought my sons at Walmart I think thats why it was defective sigh ) Great service and was fast took only 1 week. Besides that everyone that I know that has gotten them loves them. I don't know about the younger age though ... my daughter prefers her i touch to an ipod or Zune.( she is 14).

I personally have a 1st gen Zune and love it. I also like that when Microsoft comes out with new features, they update the firmware on all past models including mine. So my 1st gen Zune can now do more things than when I first bought it. What a concept - Apple might want to take some notes, at least on this.
