needing to buy a new digital camera. Our shutter got stuck and many people told us it would just be better to buy another one rather than get it fixed. I really just need a camera that is sturdy and takes decent pictures ( i have a 16 month old:):)) If anyone sees any good deals or has any good camera advice, I really would appreciate it .... I really just don't know what a good price for a camera is these days. ty ty ty ty !!!!!!!!:cheesy:

We are very pleased with our Kodak Easy Share cameras (we now have 3). Something about German lenses that makes DH happy. We have found great deals at Office Depot in the technology department, especially on Sunday mornings--they seem to put them on clearance then.

Good luck!

I'm a Canon person forever, and actually recommend against Kodak's, but many people here like them.

It depends on what you want - something small, pocket sized but still takes nice pictures, or something a bit more advanced with more manual features?

Up to how much are you willing to spend?

I'm in the same boat as Freesia. Canon FTW! Kodak have always been my second to last recommendation for a camera, only next to Fuji's. Well, old Fujis.

I'd look in this order..

Canon

Sony

Nikon

Kodak

If you give us a price range, and what you normally want to use it for... (indoors? out? Night? ) things like that we can help better.

I LOVE my Kodak Easy Share Camera. If you are a Sam's Club member, they have online auctions on their website and have cameras on it a lot. I got mine that way, regular $225 for $142 shipped! Couldn't be happier :)

oh wow, I'm a member of sams club!! I'm going to check out the sight a lil later. ty for the info!!

I am also in need of a camera. I would like one that has a lot of zoom. Able to take action shots(kids playing, racing, ect) would use both inside and outside.

I'd recommend the Canon S5IS. Great camera, 12X Optical Zoom (Optical zoom is waaaay better than digital zoom.) and many stepping stone feautures of a DSLR.

Well this is my camera:

Canon sd750

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-SD750-Digital-Optical/dp/B000NK6J6Q/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1217093058&sr=8-1

It's pretty small, compact, with a nice large LCD screen.

The SD1100:

Still "only" 3x optical zoom, but another worthy pocket sized camera.

For more zoom and features and not necessarily a higher price:

Canon A590

There is also the A720

I have a Canon Digital Rebel, and I'm used to NO wait time. When I push a button it takes the picture. I had a little Canon and it would take forever for the picture to take. I forgot my camera one day and I wanted it in my son's class. I borrowed the SD750 and was SO IMPRESSED with how fast and how clear the pictures were. It is a GREAT camera. I want that for myself because it would be nice to have a smaller one than my big ol canon rebel. I'm getting the new SD1100 for my mom for her birthday in August (I hope it is as fast as the 750). And they have a bunch of colors, pink, brown, blue, silver, so you have a choice.

what is the latest camera today? Please recommend me the best one.

Thanks!

There are just way too many variables. Do you want a small compact one? Do you want a DSLR? Do you want a smallish camera with more manual features? Do you want a camera with more features, but not quite the size of a DSLR? How much do you want to spend? What kind of pictures do you want to take?

I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H3 8.1 MP Digital Camera and love love love it. It has a 10x optical zoom and 2 x digital zoom. The more optical zoom the better. I got it at the end of May and have taken 900 pictures. It was used for our family vacation in the Black Hills and I took shots at all different times of the day and lots of action shots of the kids. It has an anti-shake feature that is awesome.

I am also looking for a camera. Here's what I need: A good point and shoot, mainly used for photos of kids, so red-eye is a big issue, as well as fairly good zoom, image stabilization and good low light action photos. I take a lot of ballet and baseball pics, and the Kodak Easyshare that I have doesn't do very well on those. I also would like something that either comes with a rechargeable battery, or uses AA batteries. I would like to spend no more than $200. I have been looking for weeks, but every one I find seems to be bad on the reviews in at least one of these areas. My camera has died, so I am getting desperate! Does anyone have a camera that is really good in all these areas that they could recommend? Thanks.

Try the Canon A series of cameras.

Canon A590 is cheap:

The Canon A570 if you can still find it:

I was actually looking at the A590 earlier tonight. I think I may go ahead and order it from Amazon. Or do you think I should wait til the BF ads come out and see what's going to be available?
