littlesdcen Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Help me decide which one and a good price. Here is what I want : Most precise directions voice prompts points of intrest and thats about it. Any comments or suggestions welcome.
shockwave78 Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Garmin , Tom tom uses a different mapping system than Garmin/Magellen and all the others, its really outdated and usually wrong.
lumbab Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 I just got a Garmin c340 and love it. Easy to use right out of the box, voice directions (with different voice choices too!), points of interests including gas stations/restaurants/hotels, very accurate. We used it in CT, MA and VT in some very remote areas and it worked great.
tokanm Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 We have 2 TomToms and LOVE them!!! never a problem with accuracy etc
littlesdcen Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 Thanks for all the comments. I just ordered the Garmin nuvi 260 from Amazon.
justjessie99 Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 My mom, dad and brother ALL swear by Garmin!!! My brother is an IT tech geek. My best friend's hubby used to work for RandMcNally, the map company, and he also is an IT guy he also bought a Garmin. So once we ge ours... you guessed it ...it will be a Garmin! My dad had gotten his at Bass Pro he got the one with all the bells and whistles for cheap.
mysschevous Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I have both, and I like the Garmin better. :)
DaveL Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Garmin , Tom tom uses a different mapping system than Garmin/Magellen and all the others, its really outdated and usually wrong. This is a false statement. I have used both and both have their quirks. With the latest maps both Garmin and Tom Tom are very accurate (but still both make mistakes). The best thing to do is to go to a brick and mortar and try out both. Get the one that fits your needs. The reason I went with TomTom overall is that it offers waypoints and will map the best way to get to multiple locations, Garmin didn't offer this.
