tokanm Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 Starbuck's with what they charge!? I am originally from Seattle and had to laugh the last time I visited how many there were. Not that I was surprised with the whole coffee boom out there and with there already being Seattle's best..but still funny. Then the famous mile in Chicago. Literally across the street from each other. The funniest one was Manhattan. Hadn't been there for years. Went a couple of years ago.Now Manhattan isn't that big to begin with overall as far as actual space it takes up. Real estate is a prime. I swear there was one at every single crosswalk. Kept us laughing all day.The upside was that there was always a public place to use a restroom..which was always the biggest hassle when visiting the big apple.I heard on the radio that Dunkin Donuts is killing the competition with lower prices. For me it is no big deal as I HATE coffee, the smell, the taste etc. That includescoffee ice cream, coffee milk, coffee syrup too Lane Bryant and Fashion Bug are closing some stores and stopping production on newstores. I still think this is a scary time
katiesmommy01 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 comment in blue.I know why!!!! I got into a long conversation with a Sears associate yesterday and made the same comment about Kmart buying them and what was that about...she made a face and said that Kmart had run into financial trouble awhile back and had borrowed money from Sears, and then Sears had run into trouble and instead of helping them the same was, instead Kmart used the money Sears had loaned them and used it to BUY Sears instead!!!! and that no-one at Sears was real happy about the situation...VERY INTERESTING!
siczlo Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Just heard Wicks Furniture is going out of business.
guilliam Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Our Payless shoes went out of business. It was there in December, but we went to look for dh for a pair of cheap dress shoes to wear to a job interview, and it was GONE! Don't know when that happened
davephillyj Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 I do find it interesting that the oil companies are making record profits but yet they keep raising the price of gas. HMMM Seems like they are doing it to make their record profits and the rest of us are paying for itYeah, it kinda goes hand in hand with drink prices at restaurants. They know we HAVE to have it, so they CAN keep charging record profit prices! They 'could' lower the price profits margin, but why. They can rob us and drive the economy into the dirt. That's what they do....hey they are "big Oil" what can we do? Gas prices have put a way big dent in our retirement and our lives. We are no longer able to save for 'golden years' (which most are not even taking into count for right now). 20 years doen the road when our age is retiring and there is no savings, look back at the gas prices. I just hope something good happens to turn this all around soon.
