Any opinions out there for this camera? My digital just stopped working of course it was 6 years old so it's about time for a new one.

No problem. My first digital camera was the Canon S500 5mp Coach Edition and I thought that it took marvelous pictures. I had the Canon APS Elph before that and loved it. I upgraded to the Sony Cybershot DSC-N2 10.1MP Digital Camera and to be honest with you, I think the Canon 5mp camera took better pictures than the Sony 10mp one does.

I just got a Canon a720is that I'm happy with. For the $140 price, I'd look at the a570is by Canon.

That's what I have ( 720IS) and it's a great camera. It also has a 6X optical zoom compared to only 2.4X for the S40.
