Not sure if they're the best but they sure are pretty good. DH currently uses the x41 and tbh he swears that he can hear someone sneaking up on him while play COD. :-) DS got the wired version the x12 and he swears the same thing too. Not sure why yours broke so soon because they've had theirs for over a year working great.

No it's the game because it is kinda hard for us to do also. The DS version isn't much easier either.

The other thing that the Ipods doesn't have that most players do is a FM radio. I know my daughter sometimes complain that she would have loved to hear the radio every once in a while. My Zen has that and I think most Sandisk players do also.
