Brad Posted January 11, 2008 Share Posted January 11, 2008 We recently had someone register on the forum and PM some of our top deal/freebie/contest posters and try to get them to leave GD and post on some new site somewhere. This person has obviously been banned (as have his 3 other accounts). This is probably one of the lowest things someone can do on a forum like this. If you happen to receive a PM like this, please forward it to me ASAP so that we can deal with it. This has been bugging me and someone else on the board. I will let her say her piece when she sees this post. Okay, here's the story! About 2 weeks ago someome PMed me and asked me to join another board and be a Mod because of all of the freebies I post. Honestly, it sounded good. I thought about it, checked the site out and joined. Well, he made me a Mod, but then told me I could not post on Gottadeal anymore. I told him hell no! I deleted the couple of post I had posted and that was that. My point is, these people, one being someone who used to post alot is stealing GD members and all of GD's post. I feel terrible about "going to the dark side"! But I want to know if these people can be stopped. They have took several members and are still doing it. Please don't be mad at me for thinking about taking a job offer. It sounded good. But there is no way I will ever posted being a member of GD's. I just figured I could be apart of both boards. This other board is taking all of MMM40's posts, word for word! That started this past week. I know she put alot of time in those posts! Is there anyway to block these people? Have anyone else been contacted to join? What can be done? And again, I want to say that I'm sorry for ever even thinking of it. But I am mad that this one person mainly, was a menber for a long time, posted many freebies and now is stealing everyone else's post! So what now? I was PM'ed by someone that I trusted here and asked for my e-mail so I gave it to them thinking that it is a referral for some freebie and was sent a link to the site so I checked it out and yeah I did post a few things over there but didn't like that the person that contacted me was continuing to PM other members here on GottaDeal...then that was it when I was told that I couldn't post here anymore.... I just can't do that!! I had seen that Jareice was there as well so I PM'ed her here and we talked about how to handle this....because I feel really bad about going over there at all and was embarassed....So we had kept watching and waiting then we saw more and more people from GD over there so it was time to do something about it!!! I would never leave there is no place that could live up to what we have here at Gottadeal. The people are always will to post deals. They are always helpful if you have a question. I am BAD about checking my PM, I have 8 unread now lol I never went so I am not sure what the board was like. I WAS NOT offered to be a mod or anything. Don't feel guitly for going, most people here would have if they didn't know it was going to try to "steal" GD's people and post! Heck we are here to SAVE money and maybe MAKE a little too...In my eyes you were just following a deal, you knew it was "wrong" and came back! Also I see the "Deals" posted here posted other places and vise versa so I am not sure there is anything you can do about that, BUT maybe the people PM FROM THIS BOARD should be banned? You didn't know you were doing anything wrong. The person to be mad at is the one sending all the PM's....they're just jealous of gottadeal.com! Unlike the last time I posted about this, this time it was a long-time member doing this, which is even more pathetic. They have been banned, the site name has been blocked from being posted/PMed, and I am looking into what actions I'll be taken regarding the blatant theft of our content. As someone said, they are pretty much copying and pasting many posts here in an effort to build their site without having to post anything original. We're dealing with it. Oh, and just in case you are curious, this other site is not worth your time. It is poorly designed, and pretty much all the content is stolen from here, so there is no reason to check it out anyway, lol.
