kristen4kids Posted October 10, 2008 Share Posted October 10, 2008 From what I was reading, you are able to leave the border to be just gray, but I think when the photo's change they have dora/diego pop up on the screen for effect.... may want to look into it, unless you don't mind Dora/Diego popping up between every pic!!You can choose to turn dora/diego off completely. I always thought that the markdown schedule was 15- 30-50-75 (and occasionally an oddball 70 or 85% on electronics-- very rarely). I've never seen a 40 though and wondered for a minute if they are adjusting the way they do their markdowns. The plates were $2.77 marked to $1.58, which if you do the math is actually 43% off. Prolly just a mistake in the way that someone entered info into their handheld, but there were several packages there. Might be nice if stuff went from 15 to 40 instead of 30! I want to try to get down there to get them the day they go to 75% off, but I live 45 minutes away so it's a waste to drive down there everyday to watch for it. I have most often run across odd markdown percentages in the electronics department and jewelry. Usually higher value items. Odd that they did it in paper plates. Still a heck of a deal.Make sure it is clearanced at your store before you return it! Sometimes they mark these kinds of things down at smaller stores before Christmas if they aren't selling well. I always find it a bit odd, but a friend of mine used to be a clothing buyer for Macy's, and she says it is cheaper to take the upfront loss than to allow the merchandise to take up precious space on the retail floor if it isn't selling. However, I am making an exception for the boy Bratz dolls - unlike the girl ones, imo they are really cute, not skanky at all, and one of them that I got on clearance looks exactly like DS6 (who does not look anything like "Ken!")
