Every year my Step Dad and I have a competition to see who can get the "best" stocking stuffer. They are not coming to visit this year so I mailed his stocking.. hopefully I beat last years gift. Last year it was an Oscar Meyer Winnie Whistle (which is gonna be tough to beat), hemoriod cream, laxitives and bandaids.

My wife did an little exchange with her coworkers...

One of them is crazy about Key Lime and saw my wife drinking a Key Lime soda from Wal-Mart. My wife took in a bottle in for her the next day and now we pick up a few bottles for the coworker when we go to W-M (the coworker lives in Philly -- no W-M nearby).

Well, for the exchange, I picked up a whole case (12 bottles/$6 worth) of this Key Lime soda. My wife put a big bow on in -- the coworker loved it. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Love/Heart-Beat.gif

I am putting finger nail clippers in our boys stockings! :yup: I am so sick of finding broken ones and lost ones. Now they will have their own! :D

I don't know if this is 'weird' but my son is getting 5 new reeds for his sax and a reed case. We spend a small fortune on reeds. They end up lost or broken or just plain wear out. We has an instrument here at home to practice on so I imagine he'll use the new reeds here at home.

I played an E-flat Alto Clarinet (big sucker) in high school band, and I remember my parents grumbling every time I asked for new reeds too.....great gift. They are horribly expensive for such a little piece of wood!!

I put magazines in my kids stocking. It takes up alot of room if I've spent too much on the stuff under the tree. Husband is getting a GottaDeal stocking; craftsman sockets and razor both from coupons from the site.

Well... my mil is getting a box of Sonic Drive In straws and sugar free honey, last year it was sugar free oatmeal. She is borderline diabetic, so I always look for something funky to feed her sweet tooth. My dh is getting... a clorox bleach pen and a whoppie cushion.

I played bassoon and you can imagine that reeds for that weren't cheap! I would have loved to find reeds in my stocking! I do think that one year my youngest brother got violin strings in his...

DS8 is getting a gallon jar of dill pickles, and DD2 is getting a quart of cottage cheese.

Sounds like perfect gifts for my two sons as well! How are you doing the cottage cheese? Will you put ice packs in the stocking, or put it in a thermos? My DS8 would love that. Cottage cheese and Chex Mix are his favorite foods.

My Pharmacy was giving away all of it's old stock of Medical Alert Bracelets this week. I got one that says "Alzheimer's Patient" for my Dad. He does NOT have Alzheimers, but we accuse him of it all the time. I KNOW, it is NOT funny or "Politically Correct" for those of you who DO know someone with Alzheimer's, but my Dad will get a kick out of it. I will tell him to keep it......just in case. :tongue1:

I will either get up first and put it in there, or I will leave a note to look in the fridge.

My son HATED cottage cheese when he was her age, he would instantly start gagging. Now he likes it, but she will eat an entire container in one sitting. We can't normally keep it because she eats it constantly, and makes a huge mess!

LOVE IT! :cheesy: Totally something I'd do to my Dad. :P

That's a good idea. My kids dislike it for the most part still, I hope they begin to like it eventually. I'm the only one in the house that likes it, but I could easily finish off a medium container in one day.

WOW! Hold up!

You ALL have my mouth dropping to the floor in what you put in the stockings. HAHAHAHA

Never, have I thought of putting any of these things in the stockings. But, I LOVE the idea.

Hmmm... I have a few days left. Though I have no clue what to get. Ack! If you can give me some ideas I would love it. I need 3 odd balls. Money was/is super tight this year, so under $2 for each.

The ketchup idea sounds pretty good for my youngest (6), as she uses it on most everything.

My kids are: DD 12 1/2, DS 10, and DD 6 (but will be 7 Jan 7 ~ it's her golden birthday!!!).

So what oddball ideas do you all have?

Patty, for the two older kids - you could go to Spencer's Gifts. Granted, they have some adult stuff, but they also have kid toys and such that are funny and off the wall. :P

If Spencer's wasn't in the mall here, I'd go tomorrow.. but I am just not willing to brave the mall this weekend.

I got a pack of winning lottery tickets at the $ tree the other night. They look a lot more real than ones in the past, and they are all guaranteed up to $5000.00 winners. There were 5 in the package.

Thanks! I may try to pull that off, because I don't have a lot for him yet.

He loves it. For a while he took it for lunch every day, we put a thermos in the freezer over night, and it went in there. But he hasn't had it in several weeks, so this will be a nice treat!

OMG I cannot believe you guys have kids that eat Cottage Cheese I thought my DD that loves broccoli and brussel sprouts was GREAT!

I don't put strange things in my kids stockings. I guess I am strange. I put smaller gifts in there with some candy and fruit.

Hmmm now you've got me thinking though!
