Reccomentdation needed: bassinets

Recommended Posts

I think the best bet would be to go to Target.com or babiesrus.com only because for each item there are customer reviews.

Personally I didn't do the bassinet (kinda wish i had), but I used the reviews when picking out a swing, a top-of-stair gate, high chair, etc etc.

good luck to you and congratulations!!!!!!

not sure if this helps--but we used a pack and play (disney)--I think it was around $70. It had an insert that fit on top of the playpen and then you put the mattress on top. I really liked it--no late night bending over and it gave a little extra room if you have a baby that tosses and turns a lot. I think it could be used for up to three months/15 lbs. Then you would just use the playpen part.

We used the stroller for the first week or so. That way i just wheeled my son from room to room. I but a really soft and thick baby comforter down and then him. He was a terrible sleeper the first week and moving the stroller around help him nod off and us get peace and quiet. Then after I put him in his crib.

Congratulations on your new BABY!!!!!!

I LOVED my Co-Sleeper. It costs a little more but was the GREATEST. Mine was a gift. I'm not sure I would have paid this much (since they don't use them long). But I did LOVE it!!!! (and it folds down like the pack 'n play)

I guess it all depends on what you want to use it for. LOTS of money is spent by first time parents that doesn't need to be. Babies get big SO fast and then you have a lot of equipment you don't need and is hardly used.

There are items like First Years Close and Secure Sleeper that you can take anywhere and put on your bed or in a crib.

If you go with the pack 'n play, the good thing about the pack 'n play is it folds down very nice. And you can take that with you even when your baby gets a little bigger (hotel rooms, grandmas, etc) and it doesn't take up a lot of space in the car.

I've used one similar to this and had great luck with it. My youngest is in it now. Both she and my next oldest stayed in it until 6 months. Granted, they're peanuts.

The one I have is a little different. It has a vibrating thing on the end (which we never use) and it's a bit more ruffley. We do use the rocking feature when they're very little.

Congratulations on your new baby!!!

I love these but last time I checked, they were expensive!!!

We also have the Pack N Play with the built in changer and bassinet. We didn't use that often. Those attachments have been stored under it for a long time. We had to replace our pack n play from ds5 because he jumped so much that he broke it!!! For this one, dd 20 months slept in it from the time she was 6 months until she was a year. She had a beautiful crib in her room upstairs, but we wanted her downstairs. Now she sleeps in her crib and soon dd 6 months will move from the bassinet into the pack n play. No sense spending several hundred more dollars on another crib when I can just cycle them through. In another 6 months or so, I think I'll be able to put dd 20 months into a bed and dd 6 months can move to the crib. There's already a crib and a bed in their room. It will get too crowded if I try to add something else! For now, dd 6 months will stay in the living room. This helps with the waking each other up factor, too. :) She's nursing and a lot of nights, she still wakes up at odd hours.
