Crue2001
Hope someone knows something about this...I have been reading about the "old" and "new" versions of the Nintendo Wii lately. Anyone know what the difference is and how you can tell which one you've purchased? (Not sure if I'm posting in the proper thread, so feel free to move as needed.) freesia39
the only difference i know of is that the new ones that are being shipped to stores come with a silicone jacket for the wii remote. the older version did not come with it, however you can request one for free from the nintendo website. Kandy
other than the jacket the orginal Wii game with a different wrist strap that they replaced. The ones we have had the wrist strap replaced. DH actually has one of the orginal straps on his keychain. The little loop that holds the wrist strap to the controller was a little thinner. Hardware wise I am not aware of any differances just the jacket and the wrist strap.

coldmorning
We've owned ours since the first day they came out (waited in line at BB for it :) ). The wrist strap and the silicone jacket are the only two things different with the Wii's. The original wrist strap was too thin and was breaking.
