kaykwilts Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I'm thinking of going on an earlier day and hiding the doorbusters I want. Do people do this?
bschmiess Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Good luck! You need a ticket for a real doorbuster anyway.
cheyandwysmom Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 This might possibly work on some items (like movies, etc) but a lot of the door-buster items (like certain toys at WalMart) come in specific BF packaging with separate UPC's. Other items won't ring at the doorbuster price.
jaymacfla Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 The store security cameras usually pick up such mishief, and diligent store clerks put the items back. Test the waters by putting a few items in odd areas to locate the stores where lazy clerks dwell.
conj Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I hated having to straighten shelves when I worked retail. I cursed people like you!
bpr Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I hated having to straighten shelves when I worked retail. I cursed people like you!Lol!!
cassgurlie04 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 i dont "hide" things persay....... i just happen to be a former employee of the local walmart and still have inside connections and have them hold, hide, and sneak stuff for me. granted i help them out by buying stuff for them that they cant get because they are working. so fair trade
bayhaysay Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Umm...maybe. This is a good thread, it's old (from the 2005 archives) but good reading. :) http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=14378&highlight=hiding
babygirl913 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 no...I wouldn't even want to be caught on camera
ladypike Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Part of the fun is to see what they find and what they don't. It can be better to hide a couple of things in one place and a couple in another. For instance, things placed behind Hair Lice Removal didn't get picked up by store employees last year at Walmart but things behind bleach did.
bayhaysay Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 For instance, things placed behind Hair Lice Removal didn't get picked up by store employees last year at Walmart but things behind bleach did. Oooh, good spot.
tiedyecandy Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 at WM you could always try hiding stuff behind the bunches of fake flowers/greenery in the craft aisle, no one ever seems to go back there
MeliesMom Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 This thread just made me laugh. When I first read the title my first thought was that this thread was going to be about hiding stuff from your kids and significant other. It is funny that stuff behind lice removal didn't get picked up but the stuff behind bleach does. Hahaha... I think it all depends on the employees doing reshop or recovery. I never used to check behind stuff when I did recovery. I really didn't care. I have never thought of hiding stuff for BF though. I do believe they do have different upc's and all that though. I read it in another thread that things do have different upc's and when people go to check out they have problems. What could the employees or camera watchmen really do if they saw you hiding stuff? Would they kick you out of the store or what? Anyone know??
RanchMomma Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 You might be able to hide price-match stuff.....(you know the stuff that Wal-Mart pulls off the floor so they will not have to price match it!) That said, I don't, but then again, I try to do most of my shopping online.....
angel-too Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Alot of the items in the ads have model numbers on them. I have matched them up many times at other stores. Tonite I found a BF BestBuy 65" tv on Amazon.com for a few dollars more with a free stand, no shipping or tax. But I have hidden items. LAst yr Target had a 22" westinghouse monitor, same model as Best Buy. I hid one in case I couldnt get the BB one which was cheaper.
Scanner420 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I hated having to straighten shelves when I worked retail. I cursed people like you! I wouldn't sraighten them..................I would however, intentionally secretly replace their items with the **** that no one wanted from the clearance racks. Never knew if they came back for it or not. but I had a few guys I worked with that did this on more than one occasion and they always got a good laught out of it.
conj Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Our loss control guy figured if someone was hiding stuff, they were either planning on stealing it, or waiting for the price to drop. He paid extra attention to those people.... But I don't remember him ever *doing* anything... so even if they see you...so what?
