mdcrim Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Any opinions on this computer? Good deal? I am in the market for a new mid-range laptop. Would I be better off waiting for Black Friday?
Marcster Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Any opinions on this computer? Good deal? I am in the market for a new mid-range laptop. Would I be better off waiting for Black Friday?Reviews:http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3918&review=Dell+Vostro+1500http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/dell-vostro-1500/4505-3121_7-32471370.htmlhttp://www.conita.com/Computers/Dell-Computers/271.html And I think this is about the best deal that Dell has right now. Just a few weeks ago, they had this same computer for $649. They usually pull out all the stops for the one-day-deals.
shopping4my3son Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Just wondering if you have to have a business to order this or can anybody?
Marcster Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Just wondering if you have to have a business to order this or can anybody? No, you shouldn't have a problem at all...
yuyi64 Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Is the link from Brad's post still active? All I get when I click on it is a "Page not Found" error page.

yuyi64 Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Works for me. http://www.gottadeal.com/Deal/21244Must have something to do with my security settings. I can click on any other link and be directed to the proper webpage, but when I click on any Dell link I get the "page not found" message. Weird!
t_mulkey Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 What is the preference now, XP or Vista? I have never used Vista. I plan to order this unit but don't know which way to go. Help anyone?
Marcster Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 What is the preference now, XP or Vista? I have never used Vista. I plan to order this unit but don't know which way to go. Help anyone?I posted this on another thread today, but it's an appropriate answer for your question: I have to say that both my wife's and my computer are both running Vista Home Premium. Once you get used to it, it's not that bad. And some things are easier. The problem is they moved EVERYTHING!!! "My Documents" is called "Documents", the control panel program "Add/Remove Programs" is now called "Programs and Features", etc. At least in this stage of the game, if you can't find something, you can just Google for it, for instance, "Vista drive letter change" will bring up a list of articles. It's the way o' the future. Get used to it or get left behind with the people still using Win98. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/LOL/56k.gif Vista does run best with 2GB of ram, which this laptop comes with so you should be fine. A lot more eye-candy in Vista than in WinXP.
t_mulkey Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Thanks for your fast reply. I am finishing up my order. My son wants a laptop, so I am getting me a new one and giving him mine. Thanks again!
no one Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I thought this was better myself www.dell.com/smb/upgrade5
Marcster Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I thought this was better myself www.dell.com/smb/upgrade5That bundles the graphics card in for $49 more. It's a better deal if you were planning on getting the graphics card anyway. That's the crazy thing about Dell... There's always another deal or "package" to look at. You can really go !
