Las Vegas Deals

Do you want to stay on the strip ... or Downtown? The strip is the nicest but some are pricey and there is some distance between each place. Downtown is cheaper in some ways but some of them are pretty sad. Also, it will be hot there.

Will you be renting a car? If so ... then perhaps one of the newer ones would have better rates and then you would have access to the strip as well as downtown without cabs or the new train thing.

I would try the individual websites for the casinos. Terribles is off Flamingo and close to the bottom of the strip (Excaliber, MGM, Hilton, New York New York, Bellagio) they have a new section just opened a few months ago.

How long are you going for? The town does not turn off the lights but are you going to gamble or the shows or the Tigers and such? Gambling can be done anytime of the day ... but the shows are usually evening and the Tigers and such are afternoon.

For the airlines ... you just gotta shop around ... don't forget Southwest I am not sure if they come up on Orbitz or those sites ... but every third plane into and out of Vegas is Southwest. However, some of the hotels if you stay there will give you an airline voucher but you will be paying for that in the cost of your room.

I was there in March for the first time and had a ball. Can`t wait to go back. They have places where you can buy show tickets half price the day of the show. Also if you do a timeshare presentation for differnt places they give you 2 show tickets. I got to see Tony Praxton free. Also when you get there sign up at all the casino`s,they give you great coupons for two for one buffets, and drinks. I think the best buffet we had was at Bally`s. We went to the Eiffel Tower at Paris and dinner for 5 was 600.00. So not worth it. I wanted to leave after I looked at menu, but would of been charged a fee for leaving. How crazy.Hang at slots for free drinks!!!!! Do the Grand Canyon. We did it by helicopter real cheap.

i just type in las vegas in yahoo search and come up with so many web sites offering deals and coupons, etc. Yeah, if you are going to rent a car, most of the resorts on the strip have free parking areas (usually in the back) and you can walk thru the air conditioned casinos to get to other areas of the strip. We would park at a resort, see the sites there and several others in the area, got back in the car and drove further down and did the same thing again. there is so much walking that we never would have made it back and forth without this, especially if it is hot. i was there last sept but never got to check out the tram. sign up at some players clubs for freebies even if you dont plan to gamble there much; they'll send you emails for deals after you come home. if you are by the tropicana, get in line and do the free pull. and there is a mega hot dog for .99 at a place outside slots o fun (by circus circus) that was featured on food network that looks big enough to feed a family of four and they said it was pretty tasty. and definitely get the free drinks while gambling, altho the waitresses didn't seem to come around the penny slots very often lol. have fun. I plan on taking myself back again in about three years to celebrate getting my masters. and then four years after that, can take DS for his 21st. time flies.

Try funjet.com for a package deal. I know our area runs sales ALL the time with this tour operator. So does allegiance airlines...which I think is allegianceairlines.com. For an even better deal, you can try patravel.com. Its a travel company in Pennsylvania where they discount ALL tour packages and you get a rebate at the end. I learned about them through the travel magazines I read. We used them when we went to Jamaica and saved several hundred dollars. I always check with them first before making a reservation. It doesn't matter where you live...I'm in Wisconsin. They're a great resource!! If you want more info, just PM me as I don't want to take up all that space here! LOL Anyway, good luck!

Gotta watch those penny slots ... while they seem inexpensive ... most of them take more than some of the quarter machines. The waitresses will come by the slots more now because they have discovered that there is more money in the slot machines than the table games. Just watch the penny machines ... they say 'play 200 credits' that is 2 dollars ... and some of them even take more than that. Additionally, they can allow you to 'win' much more often than the other machines, they do this by giving you a win of 50 credits for your bet of 200 credits. Where the quarter machine has to give you back at least the quarter you started with.

That is not to say that you can't play any machine you wish ... just that they are very adept at deception ... as in the penny machines you can win 50 or even 100 credits every pull ... but you are not getting even for your bet.

We went to Vegas last year for our honeymoon. We got a great package deal through priceline. We got 5 nights at Bally's and 2 roundtrip airfare for $800. Bally's was real nice and being practically in the middle of the strip we were in walking distance from a lot of stuff. We did a lot of shuttle hopping. A few of the Casinos have a shuttle that go from one to the other. The only time we had to pay for a cab was going from Bally's to the airport. We were able to get a shuttle from the airport to Bally's.
