lnd1st
I am in search of a Pink Booster seat for my DD. I would like it to be around $50.00. If anybody has seen it over the net please point me to that site. Thanks! :)
aidansmommy
The backless boosters with patterns on the seat (I saw dinosaurs, princess, etc) have been marked down in some Target stores to as low as $5.50 (originally $25). They start at 40 pounds, so it may not be what you need, but a great deal. I bought a few about a month ago, and in Target last week, I saw that they were starting to mark them down again (these were new patterns). avno
Target sells a booster seat WITH a back that is pink and flowery, the back has the option of being removed when child is older, it is made by Graco and called the Safe Seat. It is 49.99 (regular price). I believe that I also saw this seat at Toys R US or Babies R US. I just bought my son the boys version of this seat and I LOVE it!! I will admit that I gazed wistfully at the pink one, as I have 2 boys and no girls as of yet. Hopefully someday I will get to buy the pink stuff!! Good luck, hope you find what you are looking for. Serrina
You should really stick with any five point harness for your child... So much safer!!
lnd1st
I have tried the pink with back in target, but they are out of it. The backless doesn't work as the belt comes on her neck. Thanks for all the suggestions.
avno
You should really stick with any five point harness for your child... So much safer!!Five point harnesses are usually only used until a child reaches 40 pounds ( or possibly up to 60 with a Britax), and a certain height limit (of which I am not sure). My child is too big for a five point harness. He is currently on his fourth car seat. After his infant seat, and next traditional toddler carseat, I bought him a toddler booster with a 5 point harness. He has since outgrown that, so the next safest option is a high back booster that positions the car seat belt safely. In my state, it has become a law that children must ride in a car seat or booster until 9 years of age or 80lbs. Surely you wouldn't expect a child that big to be in a 5 point harness, would you? lnd1st
yes thats the problem with 5 point harness. My DD is 40+ pounds & 42inches tall at 3 1/2 yrs. So I am seriously looking for booster with the back.
KJF
My DD is about the same size as yours & we do have the pink one w/ the butterflies from Target. I haven't checked out their website to see if it's there or not. She really likes hers. One thing I noticed while checking them out there & Babies R Us - check the seat padding. The pink one at Babies R Us had a seam that would have bothered her skinny little legs where the pattern changed & was kind of hard.

And Surely to your remark sorry i don't think you need to be so rude:DI'm sorry, but you really need to read the instructions that came with your seat, because there is not a single harnessed seat out there that actually harnesses to 100lbs(Britax is the closest, with a seat that harnesses to 80lbs). Unless you have the Cosco Apex Eddie bauer, you can not use the harness on your seat past 40lbs, you need to remove the harness, and use your seat as a booster. You can go to http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/people/injury/childps/CPSFittingStations/CPSinspection.htm And find an inspection station near you to have your installation checked. Don't get me wrong i just think 5 points are the best to keep your kids safe until they reach that certain poundage. I wish hey could just stay small. Mine daughter would not fly with that either, wish i could do it.

No need for me to go see anyone , My husband does a really good job with the new car seats.
jadedmomof2
Serrina, you should really go anyway, because the Alpha Omega is probably the most mis-used and wrongly installed carseat out there right now. And it really sucks as a booster seat, so then you could possibly get some ideas on what to use once your child does hit 40lbs, or outgrows the AO in height, which usually happens by the time a child is 3 or so. In fact, everyone should go to one, because the 90% statistic of carseats being used or installed incorrectly is definitely true in everything I've seen. In fact, I think with all the carseat checks I did, I had 1 installation come in 100% correctly, and it was a booster seat.

jadedmomof2
Was your child IN the seat when it was checked? Was the officer a trained child passenger safety technician? If not, then you really need the seats re-checked. I just find it seriously hard to believe your 36lbs child isn't too tall for the seat. Like I said, most of the time, the seat is outgrown by height by the time the child is 3. Okay, The seat sucks as a booster because the lap belt portion of the seatbelt ends up sitting too high on the child, and it doesn't actually touch the child in the right spot(across the upper thighs) With the AO(and really, most combination seats, even those with arm rests) this is a problem. It's why dedicated boosters are really the best way to go. Also, the shoulder belt also gets held away from the child, it should actually be touching the child at the shoulder. This doesn't happen very often with the AO. The AO says it's a multi-purpose seat, but it does none of the purposes well. It's too big and bulky while rearfacing, too short of harness slots for forward facing, and doesn't function well as a booster. Plus, add in the twisty straps and non-removable cover, and really, it's just not that great of a seat for the price tag.

jadedmomof2
Check at the aforementioned link. Or epinions. Or even put your child in the seat, as a booster seat, so you can see the problems I mentioned. But really, it's opinion of mine(shared by many other techs). As a tech, I groaned every time I saw one of those damned things in a car. I hate them with every inch of my being. That and the old Century Breverras. So glad those are mostly expired now. And the No, did that mean the police officer was not trained? If he wasn't trained, then you need to find someone who actually is trained.

Oh and heaven Yes that man sure was. Sorry but im a mom of 2 and would want that for the safety of my babies. Still looking for that site info... We really love our seats and just the other day my best friend got her son the same model and well she has it in booster mode, she loves her's so i will think my daughter should have no problem. We shall see the outcome when that day arrives:D

However, if you want a few more opinions, ask at that website(go to the forums and ask on the carseat forums)

brynnfromtheblock
Jadedmomof2.... trying to follow the conversation and it looks like Serrina takes "your experience" to mean just using the seat and I'm taking your "tech" to mean you had a job somewhere in the field either checking the seats or testing them...can you clarify? Just might help others understand where you're coming from...

And they aren't really safety problems, just problems that just don't make the seat worth $150(or more) You can get much better designed seats, and easier to use seats for less than $150. becca0884
Target has the Graco Turbo Booster in Samantha for $49.99, it's not all pink, but it has pink on it. It's on the website at http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_12/601-0971853-4261707?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000LP9JM4 They also have the Disney Princess and The Little Mermaid Turbo Booster, but they are backless. I really wish they had them WITH a back on them. :\
