Scott Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Ok RossMan... Hopefully you or someone else can help me out. My wife and I just got back from a wonderful Holiday USO tour here in Germany. It was a wonderful night. They bussed wounded troops over from the hospital base that I work at to be entertained by Robin Williams, Blake Clark, Leeann Sweeden, and John Elway! I have always supported the USO (the last time I went to the USO, I paid $20 for a free cookie and cup of coffee), but I'm looking for this Support The Troops wristband. Leeann Sweeden was wearing one and told everyone about them. They are similar to the "Live Strong" band that has become so popular. The problem... They are only available at 7-eleven stores. I would actually like to purchase several of these (maybe 10) as gifts for people who are stationed here with us. There aren't any 7-eleven's near our home families, so I need to find someone that can help out. I have positive HeatWare under TSDible from AnandTech. I would be willing to paypal someone funds for the cost of the bands, shipping, and a little extra for the trouble if needed. Help me support our troops. Thanks
i-bystander Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I'll see if I can find some around here and let you know. :)
motoXmom Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 There was a report on our news that the $$$ isn't really going to the causes we think they are going to. Have you checked into them to see if the money is really going to support our troops? I don't want to sound negative about them or anything! Since the big thing is now the Lance Armstrong ones there are many many people making knock offs , and people think the money is going to a certain cause. Or are these just to show support? Sorry if this all came out wrong, like I said I really don't want to sound negative!

Sorry if this all came out wrong, like I said I really don't want to sound negative!First of all... All money that goes to the USO is used to support the troops. All workers for the USO are volunteers in some capacity. For instance tonight... all the soldiers and DOD civilians were treated to not only the show, but also free coffee and hot chocolate. (The weather isn't so nice here today) In order to prevent knock-offs, they can "only" be purchased at 7-eleven. $1 goes to the USO for each one purchased. I will still donate to the USO directly, but I thought this would be a nice way for people to show their support.
Scott Posted December 17, 2004 Author Posted December 17, 2004 Scott, how much are these each?Good Question... I'm not sure
RossMAN Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Consider it done. Please PM me your complete mailing address.
RossMAN Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 PM received. We might be able to ship this out tomorrow (along with some of our rebate forms). Does anyone know how much these cost?
motoXmom Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Sounds good then! Like I said it was on the news and stores were selling ones for MS, Breast Cancer and things like that then come to find out nothing was going to any cause. People are paying high prices for these too. So I'm glad money is really going to the USO!

And of course, the free coffee, cookies, and cocoa are a nice change from the standard MREs those guys are getting. Robin Williams called them "Meals Ready to Excrete." He cracked me up.
motoXmom Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Meals Ready to Excrete! My DH agrees with that one! When I make up care packages to send them I use to have to take it all to Cleveland but they are getting ready to open a USO dropoff center here locally!!! YEA ! Now I can do it more often We are also sending things like childrens shoes, clothing and stuff for the kids over there. My youngest son gave up some of his toys too. That made me really proud :) We went to the Mall last night and seen the Marines Toys for Tots. Since KBtoys is going out of business we were able to get three big bags of toys for $30 and to give them. My youngest shook the Marines hand and Thanked him. The guy smiled from ear to ear, and thanked us for our support not only for the toys but for our Troops.
RossMAN Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 Just called a local 7 Eleven, they are $2.99 each.
