I have a dilemma my ds 8 is getting a new bike for Christmas. The problem is both of my kids wake up before me and go out to investigate. They don't open anything but they look and then come to wake me so they can open. So I am trying to find a way to "hide" his bike or camouflage it Christmas morning. Any ideas??

Thanks in advance for any help...I'm kind of stuck

Last year when my kids got bikes we put them in the garage. We put a picture of the bikes with a note saying where they were in a box and wrapped the box. They opened the box like any other present and then ran screaming downstairs to the garage to find the bikes.

behind a couch? under a blanket? better yet OUTSIDE.

:gdiagree: I was going to say behind the couch also.

I also agree with elena_398...our kids know no one is to go into the living room without mom and dad.

The bad thing is, also in our house, the first one up (no matter what time) they are to wake everyone up..:lolrun: I'd like to get the person that made that one up.

Hope it wasn't me!:gdchatter:

Also to the OP..we had this same dilemma last year. We just kept the bike in our garage and brought it into the house the night before. Just get creative with where to put it. Maybe organize presents to hide it.. stack em up..ok I'm just babbling now. Probably no help.. but good luck!

The rule in my house is that the kids are NOT allowed to go downstairs until their father and I are up.

You can buy a bike bag or put the bike in another room.

I like the idea of a bike bag, we live in a ranch style house and if the kids got up to use the bathroom they can see the tree.

Might have to use that blanket, but I don't want to just leave it outside.

I may do that but think that I will look and see if I can find the bike bag first.

Where would I get the bag?? Walmart?? Thank you all fo your help.

when the kids were little we got a trampoline.we set it up outside and that night we put a red ribbon tied or taped to one of their presents or something in the house. when they asked what it was for we said you might want to follow the ribbon.we followed it outside thru the gate to the backyard to see the trampoline

Our kids are allowed to go in the living room and go through their stockings without us (if we're not up). They cannot open gifts though.

We bought our daughters each an electric scooter one year. We put them out in our pump house. We pulled them out when we got up--for one, we bought each one a specific type, and we didn't want one thinking they had one that they didn't.

When I was a girl, I got a motorcycle. They put a blanket over it. I was not supposed to look until they got up. I actually didn't. Not all kids could help but look though.

I like the idea of putting a note about the gift in a box and putting the bike in the garage/outside.

DS is getting a train table this year, and I don't want to put it together downstairs by the tree and then have to get it upstairs to his room later. There is a storage room off of his closet, and I plan to put it together in there. He never goes in there because it is cold, but I'll put a blanket over it. I am going to take a picture of it and put it in a Christmas card under the tree and then he can go find it.

This is kinda silly but my parents did it for me. I was five years old and I still remember this as if it were yesterday.

I woke up Christmas morning, we all went downstairs. I had been BEGGING for a bicycle. I didn't see one downstairs, so I was sort of sad. Our tradition was to eat breakfast first, so we did that. We then began opening presents. Half way through my Dad told me to let the cat inside (which was a normal thing for me to do). So I opened the front door and there was my bike on the porch! I was screaming and jumping up and down, lol.

wow I just put everything under the tree, they are allowed in the living room, and they can play with any thing that Santa left out and open their stockings then they will come get me or their big sister, then dad and the Big brother, I could never tell them they couldnt go see what Santa brought that is all the fun in it. But then that is my opinion and what we do.

Same here and plus they are only kids once so let them enjoy it! I can remember when my son and daughter were small they would get up around 3 in the morning and start playing with toys that were left under the tree!

And they always came getting hubby and I both up out of the bed to come see what Santa left them after going thru all the things and we never complained one time that it was so early. We just got up and let them do as they wanted because that is one day that is totally ALL about them.

I said OUTSIDE because we are also getting DS and B-Ball Goal and its going to be set up outside. I like the ribbon to lead to the present outside !

Yeah the more I think about the idea the more I like it. I am going to tie a ribbon to a covered an empty paper towel roll so he can rollup the ribbion that will lead him to his bike. Where I an going to leave it is still up in the air.

We sort of did this with my dd and her bike a few years back. We always kept our soda on the front porch(enclosed) to stay cold. After gifts were opened, I asked her to grab me a soda from the porch- a normal routine for her. She saw the bike and was so excited she was crying. It was her last year believing too. It was magical for her.
