BellaVita
I wanna get her a cuckoo clock but do not want to spend more than 50 bucks. She doesn't read and she doesn't cook that much. Any ideas?
suzanneb
Grocery Store CG and pre-paid calling card are nice. Also, a baset filled with stamps, note card/stationary (maybe pr-addressed?), return address labels- you can even make those on your computer- nice pens-- that kind of thing. preacherswife2
Try giving her yourself, buy a gift card to some place you both like to eat and part of the gift is that you will set aside the time to take her to enjoy it. You could even do a shopping day or a movie or something else she enjoys doing. I think most Grandparents want us more than any other gift we can give. GrannyRuth
As my Mom got older ,She passed Jan 2006,age 90. There was nothing she wanted or needed. My best gift to her was to take her to Walmart & Long John Silvers. They ended up being her 2 favorite places. No gifts just spend some time with the older person. They get so lonesome. sbaldasare
When my husband's grandmother was living, we would "pre-pay" part of her heating bill. I would call the local carrier, tell them who's account I wanted the payment applied to and the next month it would show up on her bill. We would always get a little letter or card from the gas carrier stating that a payment had been made to her account, so we would give that to her for Christmas. In Ohio, a little help with the heating bill is always great in January!
AirForceMom
Two years ago we got mine a clock from Target - think it was $18 or so. At each hour mark there was a slot for a picture and you can record messages to go off on that hour. We put in pictures of all the grandkids and family and had each record a special message to gram. She thought it was so neat........ she just moved into a nursing home and that HAD to go with her. Funny when you visit her and it goes off because you'll hear someones voice saying "HI grandma, love you grandma" and you start looking around until you remember it's that stupid clock!
