Kara1204 Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 OK, call me an idiot, but what the heck does it mean when someone simply posts "bump" in a thread????
alimfp Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 When someone "bumps" a post, they are posting arbitrarily to bring it to the top of the forum.

Florida Girl Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 OK, call me an idiot, but what the heck does it mean when someone simply posts "bump" in a thread???? I wanted to ask that question but being a newby I didn't want to get fussed at to go read some other post info; like the acronyms page that are used. Its too many to remember. Thanks for asking the question; but it still doesn't make since to me. Why do you want to bump your post to the top?
cotejb Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 if you don't get a reply to a thread it keeps going down the thing until its pages behind...if you bump it it keeps it closer to the top so you can find it without having to search....does that help?
Gurnee Al Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Thanks for asking the question; but it still doesn't make since to me. Why do you want to bump your post to the top?By bumping, you're not bringing your post up to the top -- you're bringing the entire thread up to the top of the forum that it's sitting in.
Scott Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 All good information. But remember, excessive "bumping" may be frowned upon by some moderators... ... use it wisely.
