Electric Blankets

Anyone come across deals on electric blankets? This old house is drafty and now with a fifty-percent increase in rates come Jan. 1st - I need to find an alternative to turning up the thermostat. :fluffy:

I'm looking for deals too. Right now I use a heating pad! It soothes my back and warms the bed. I turn it on at the foot of the bed while I get ready, lay on it while I unwind and turn it off when I turn off the light. Between that, fleece or flannel sheets, and pajamas, I stay warm all night. I switched from a comforter to a quilt last year and was surprised that it seemed warmer. Also our bed is raised; I don't know if that helps, but in theory it would (heat rises).

I bought my heating pad on clearance at Target last winter, but my mom said she bought a new one recently and the only one she could find was around $40. I was hoping to get a queen-sized blanket for that price...so I'll be hanging out looking for deals.

I searched and searched. The best I could find was at Wal-Mart. I also found a queen size with coupons and sales a couple of weeks ago at JC Penny.com IT was around $62 with free shipping

I have looked at these also. The price on a heating mattress pad seems to be cheaper. I had never seen these but I guess you put them under your sheets. Anybody have one?

My mom had a heated mattress pad. She said it nicely warmed the bed, but didn't get really hot like an electric blanket or heating pad.

lol I am using a heating pad right now.

I really could kick myself. I figured I could pick some up for a good price and ignored the 2 I saw at local auctions this summer that went for a dollar. Guess it's hard to think of winter warmth in 90+ degree heat lol

I'll have to recheck at Walmart. We have a new Super Walmart now and it's terrible to find anything plus they simply don't carry some of the stuff like they used to.

I have an electric mattress pad. I love it! King size dual control. I know they have them at Kmart, also electric blankets on sale for 10% off. just bought a full size for $45.00

Target had some on sale on Saturday (so the sale may be over). But I didn't look enough to see how good the sale was.

We got my mom a reversible electric heated fleece throw for Christmas. We bought it from Bed, Bed and Beyond for $49.99 but they also had some at Wal-Mart for 30 bucks i think, just not reversible. I haven't seen it in action so i can't vouch for how well it works but it does seem like it will be pretty warm. It's fleece so it's not the traditional scratchy heated blanket, but a little softer, plus i think it's neat because it's not as big as the regular blankets and maybe won't get so super hot, just something nice and warm to cover up with in addition to her down blanket and stay warm.

:gdfrozen: Fleece throws are wonderful. I have several. Check out all your department stores and drug stores may be you will find some on sale. They are much cheaper than electric mattress or blankets. They age great for using all over the house even watching TV. Should have plenty to pick from.
