MominCT Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 At our best buy, I have a friend in line and she said the employees just started coming around saying they are handing out tickets starting at midnight. Guess it could be a good thing.. if people dont get what they want they can go home! They always do this at ours sooo early
venerdinero Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 That would be great! Even if you do get what you want, you can leave for WM or someplace warmer - if you have the ticket you should (key word "should") be able to come back anytime before noon and still get your item. Has anyone else heard about tickets being handed out at midnight??
kaijura Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 wish it would be the same for this one. 60+ People are lining up to the point where their spots overlap the other nearby store. it's gonna be awhile.. Also, i'm on stolen wireless from the geek squad.. unless they purposely had good heart to leave it on
MominCT Posted November 24, 2006 Author Posted November 24, 2006 Our store does this BUT no one leaves.. if you do you probably wont get the item We did this last year.. we came back at 4:30 and when we got to the register with our ticket it was sold out!!! I was so furious.. I'm just happy I only need little things this year from this (and all) stores

djsambo Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Ticket handing out was the most botched thing I ever saw, Very unorganized and once u got in the store it was worse. Needless to say, they magically ran out of ALL laptops when I get up to the end of the line. If you wanted a bluetooth headset, they hid them by the cds. Who the hell would look by the cds. I am very upset and ticked off, more at how they handled the event then being mad because I didn't get what I wanted. If you were first in line, you could have potentially grabbed a ticket for every single item, which was unfair. SCREW BEST BUY and their shady practices
kitty34 Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 From the time I arrived at bb in utica, mi (5pm) until 4am we had 2 best buy employees telling everyone they had 26 emachines (which closely mimicked the 25 I had counted on Wed night...but when they handed out tickets all of a sudden they only had 10 of them...so I waited all night at number 20 (inline) and supposedly number 12 for the emachine (which the employees assured me I was "solid" to get) for nothing. So I kind of agree that the ticket program needs some work...
bigjimslade Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 The ticket system at my BB worked great. About 10 min before they started the tickets about 20 police officers showed up in riot gear with batons and helmets. The officers also had gas mask bags on them as well. They passed out the tickets and had no problems.
yogiyb Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I have to share my ticket experience. DH got there at 5:30pm after doing a drive-by and seeing about 17 people in line. I quickly hurried and we camped with a pretty good crowd, although some punk drove by and tried to spray everyone with a water gun (Plus, a fight broke out at CC and the police cleared their lot!!). Anyway, got tickets for the 42" & 32 WH HDTV, 5 MxPl Kodax, Samsung Camcorder, and surprising the Toshiba $250 laptop. The only miss was the HP laptop but I really didn't plan on getting it.(Probably was just caught in the moment ) Anyway, they let people purchasing 42" or larger TVs in about 4:30am to go to basically make sure they pushed the service plan and other accessories. Anyway to make a long story short, DH and I split to complete purchases. An hour later I get to customer service to pay and pick up the Toshiba. The clerk comes over and says they're out and were offering a $599 Compaq as a comparable item. I just cut him off and told him to get the manager. Then some little punk (you'll see why in a minute) comes over and says "This was a limited quantity item and weren't guaranteed." I explained to him that we had waited over 12 hours to ensure we would get this limited quantity item. Now the ticket I had was a paper copy, not the glossy sheet like the others. The punkish customer service manager then said "Well ma'am this is a photocopy of the actual ticket". That is when I breathed deeply and told him "Surely you are not suggesting that somehow I got a hold of the ticket, ran to Kinko's and made a copy!!! I then flipped the ticket over and showed him the yellow SKU labels attached to the back. I told him to get the store manager who had politely escorted me into the store at 4:30 this morning. By this time I am HOT!!! After the punk left, the cashier told me that they did not get glossy tickets for the Toshiba and just made those copies in the store. Apparently they printed 25 WITHOUT verifying the actual number in the store. By the time the store mgr came over to me, this same scenario was occuring all around the customer service counter. In conclusion, of course, they gave everyone the Compaq for the Toshiba $249 price. But it still took me about 15 minutes to completely settle down (sleep deprivation I guess). Overall, this was the perfect storm, in that BB had the best prices on the things I needed/wanted and we had a good position in line. Probably my last time camping out though ( ;) Happy Black Friday!!!!!
stiltman Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I guess i was lucky i got eveything i was going for and we did not have a problem at all with anything. Managment was great empolyees were helpful and the ticket items went well!! I love my Best Buy!!!
momofthree Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 We did a drive by at about 9 p.m. at our Spanish Fort B.B. Already about 50 people in line, so we stayed. When tickets started to get handed out, a guy 3 ahead of us got the last one for the $250 Toshiba. A young kid was looking to sell his ticket and I got it for $50 bucks. Others were forking $100 and up for tickets! All in all I was pleased:eyepoppin
Guest CS.Dean Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 everything was cool with us. AT 3:30 or so they came out to talk to us in sections of about 30. At 4 am the tickets started comming around. It was really calm. They had almost 40 toshiba's and the HP's were right at the minimum. The desktops were like 15. I got the desktop, the toshiba ( it was my good deed mentioned in another post)and the HP. There was this guy who was way back in line, he kept being rude and pushy. Well I decided I was going to extract a little revenge on him. When he came back to talk about he did not get the HP I told him I had a ticket. He started asking me if he could have it. After about 30 second I told hime give me $25 and he could have it. He was happy. I saw him about an hour later in the store. He had his laptop and he was happy.
AaronOnline Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 They handed them out at 4 am here also. Was pretty calm (though the police there probably helped that).

Probably my last time camping out though ( ;) Happy Black Friday!!!!! Hey gurl! You really did go early if you beat that crowd! Me and my husband were there, we were #4 and #5. I meant to yell and find out if you were there, but we were having sooo much fun up front that I totally forgot! You probably saw us, we were in the white van parked in the handicap space. We had the black table set up with the blankets on it. My husband was #5 and they tried that "$249 laptop are sold out" crap with us too. Oddly enough there was one right behind the counter with Rachel Ware's name on it. I brought it to the attention of the manager and he was able to give it to me with 10% off for my trouble. I mean come on....I had been there since the day before! Anyway, we had a great time and I will probably do it again next year. Next time I will remember to bring heat!!:) P.S. Did you see the high skateboarder! I probably could have watched him all night. He even offered the young man up front a hit of weed! Happy Holidays!!!
Anita967 Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I was the first one at our BB. Had to camp out in 30 degrees since 4 pm Thurs. They started coming out to hand out the tickets at 4 am but the did a crappy job of it. They had seven different people with a ticket each to hand out and instead of going one at a time they started yelling who wants the Toshiba Who wants the Kodak etc. I missed the one for the Kodak I needed. I asked for the manager and explained what had happened. I told her that after sitting there in the cold for 12 hours and being first I should have gotten what I needed. She agreed and I got the camera. I got eveything I wanted but this is my first and last camping trip.

ks8wku8g Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 We were first in line at Best Buy, on Polaris, in Columbus, Ohio. Actually nice friendly crowd, as we got to know each other for about 12 hours. They handed out tickets a little after 4 AM, and everything went smoothly. I did not hear any problems of people not getting their item with the ticket. Lots of requests to sell tickets, but we were good and didn't sell. Now the 2nd and 3rd group behind us, they made some nice extra money. The employees were great, and Cingular handed out Krispy Kremes at 4AM. No complaints from our end.

They all stopped the "auction" style way of handing out the tickets and got it together.

Anita967 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Is there a way we can email BB and let them know of the problems we encountered and offer suggestions for next year? Would it do any good?
