  1. We were out last year to Best Buy at around 2 PM, and was first in line. A couple of other people showed up about 2 hours later, then it became busy. Had a great time, better than a few years ago at CompUSA. Some people rushed the door, not those waiting in line, and it became a stampede. Was thrown into shelves and crushed, had quite a few bruises. This year, will head out at similar time, nothing is overly exciting, but our oldest daughter and her fiance' want a few items, so we'll be out for support. My list is short this year, nothing in the ads caught my eye, or budget.
  2. In my opinion, Walmart is the ruination of business, especially for any small business, and I ONLY shop there when it is absolutely necessary. This just makes my boycot even stronger. I have not gone to Walmart's BF sales for the past few years, and will not go again this year, no matter what is in the ad.
  3. We were first in line at Best Buy, on Polaris, in Columbus, Ohio. Actually nice friendly crowd, as we got to know each other for about 12 hours. They handed out tickets a little after 4 AM, and everything went smoothly. I did not hear any problems of people not getting their item with the ticket. Lots of requests to sell tickets, but we were good and didn't sell. Now the 2nd and 3rd group behind us, they made some nice extra money. The employees were great, and Cingular handed out Krispy Kremes at 4AM. No complaints from our end.
  4. I was at the CompUSA on Sawmill in Columbus, Ohio at around 10:30 PM, and was already about 100 people back. Then security was bad, with a large group swarming the door at midnight. I received numerous bruises on my arms and chest. Sale items were great, and I got most everything I wanted, but it was dangerous for a while. Hope for similar specials, and better security this year.
  5. Heard they were in line around 11 PM, but my wife didn't arrive until around 4PM (not expecting they would honor the computer price). They apparently came out around 3PM and handed out the vouchers. We were all in line at CompUSA at 11 PM. WBNS 10-TV was at Best Buy doing some video.
  6. OK, my wife and daughter were at Best Buy on Polaris, Columbus, Ohio. Remember, we did not receive the ad with the doorbusters. However, employees came out and gave out certificates to those in line wanting the eMachines/monitor at $149 (and I believe the laptop), even though they were not in our ad! They also gave out free coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts. Nice, since temps were in the single digits. Sorry, but they were to far back to get the eMachines. At Staples at Sawmill/161 is where my other daughter and I were. Much less crowd, maybe 150 people. They let the early arrivers to come into the vestibule area, as it was very cold. Still cold, but much better and no wind. They gave out maps, and had a route of tables with the specials set-up through the store. It was generally orderly, got everything we wanted, and was out (including check-out) in 10 minutes! Our compliments to both:greenappl On the other side, I got several buises at the CompUSA on Sawmill in Columbus. No security, 400-500 people, and they rushed the door, ignoring the lines. Then crushed people in their way to get to the hard drive shelf. It was scarey for a few moments.

    Any injuries?!

I received some bruises on my left arm and aggravated an already hurting tendonitis in my right elbow, at CompUSA near Columbus. We were in the first 40-50 people, and the line swelled to about 400-500. Some people rushed the entrance to ditch in, as there was no security. After that rush, those individuals "crushed" their way to the hard drive and DVD/CD burner rack. I was crushed into the shelf, but I got the hard drive I wanted. One guy was actually climbing the shelf to get to the top, thought it might pull over, but it stayed in place.
  8. According to the ad, it's just the Best Buy stores in the Columbus and Dayton market, which includes Springfield and suburbs.
  9. I just e-mailed WBNS-TV Consumer 10 investigations, in Columbus, and explained how Best Buy does not like central Ohio. Hopefully they will look into it and give them the appropriate press.
