Gurnee Al Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Great price and NO rebates. This doorbuster will go very quickly. Anyone have any experience with AMD's Turion processor? Also comes with free HP inkjet printer AR. I wonder how many each store will have.
keyascii Posted November 11, 2006 Posted November 11, 2006 Probably like 10 per store minimum. It doesn't show a count in the ad.
-msmama- Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 My HP has a AMD Sempron (laptop) & E-Machine (desktop) has the AMD Athlon, both move fine. Thinking I might get me this laptop, so I can have all 3 AMD, keep the family together!
diecastbeatdown Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 looks like this is the model from compaq's website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c00384512&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN also found it on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834147288 though the newegg HD is 80GB and staples has a 60 in it, evrything else looks the same for $599 after a $30 rebate.
Guest hoobash Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 At when to my local staples and they have 8
Abe1787 Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 anyone know what graphics it has?I don't know for sure but Radeon Xpress 200M seems likely.
gigoypotpot Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 This sounds like a good deal...although...it does not have a DVD writer...??
IceQueen Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 I think this is the one I emailed Staples about.
TnTWalter Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Is this the same one? If so it's $349.98http://officedepot.shoplocal.com/officedepot/default.aspx?action=detail&flashbrowse=y&storeid=2279731&rapid=337844&pagenumber=1&listingid=-2094096714&ref=%2fofficedepot%2fdefault.aspx%3faction%3dbrowsepageflash%26storeid%3d2279731%26pagenumber%3d1%26rapid%3d337844%26prvid%3dOfficeDepot-061119 I can't figure out if this is a good deal or not? Any help? I want to surf the net, upload pictures from camera, use itunes... Trish

mikevermont Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 I'm thinking of getting this for my Mother. She surfs the internet every now and then and does some online shopping. She lives up in the woods of Vermont and can't get any sort of high speet internet. Does this computer come with a built in modem? Thanks for any help.
Janum Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 The difference between the Office Depot laptop and this one is that the Office Depot processor is "Intel® Celeron® M Processor 420" where as this is a 64 bit AMD processor (much better).
Janum Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 ..although I have to add that with the Office Depot laptop, you get a free printer (AR) and almost free upgrade to Windows Vista. Pretty good deal for home use.
Gurnee Al Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 Be careful! Apparently, the $399 laptop is not available at all Staples locations. Go to staples.com, enter your zip code and pull your local BF ad.
zgamer Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Random question, could you use the $30 MIR on the laptop? http://images10.newegg.com/uploadfilesfornewegg/rebate/SH/COMPAQ34-147-288&34-147-289Oct0106Jan0607Tw18.pdfWhile originally listed on newegg there is no limitation about Staples...just officemax/radio shack.
Gurnee Al Posted November 22, 2006 Author Posted November 22, 2006 The rebate form didn't list the eligible models. I suspect it's not every HP laptop. I doubt they would accept it, but it may be worth a try.
sekholm Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Local Staples wouldn't tell me how many of the Compaqs they would have. Said it was "policy". I assume about 10 per store. Well, I'll be there early for all the goodies as BB has stiffed us here in Iowa. Another reason to stay out of BB for a year. Oh, and the rebate is worth a try. is says all models purchased that end in US and it cant be purchased from Radio Shack or Office Max. Looks like a winner. Worth a try. thanks for the link!
monster2369 Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Be careful! Apparently, the $399 laptop is not available at all Staples locations. Go to staples.com, enter your zip code and pull your local BF ad. this is true...i just checked my zip code and this laptop is 899 not 399...grrrr
yenal Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 i wanted this laptop but it's not going to be at my local Staples!
chaoz Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 not sure why staples would do this as reginal and most stores get only 4-6 laptops not 10
Jenn478 Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 I spoke with the assistant manager last weekend and he told me they had 12 laptops.
Guest hoobash Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 UGH!!! I HATE STAPLES!!! This laptop is not in my local ad but when I went there the girl told me they had 8 of them.
susan behan Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 how do I check if the staples in muy area will have it?I dont see a BF link on ad
MDWKurt70 Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Sure that with my local best buy not having the outstanding notebook values and Walmart doesn't appear to have any either, my Staples will be packed at 6 am for these. Still may go check it out though
Ishman Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I got there at 4:00 AM and was number 6 in line for the laptop. Number 7 and 8 arrived by 4:15 (this Staples only had 8). I normally never go to staples until around 5:00 or 5:15, but I figured with the deal on the Laptop, monitor and gps it would be worse this year. I was definitely right!!!! Ishman
Jenn478 Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 We got there at 5am, I was number 17 in line and got the last laptop. We also got 2 19" monitors and 2 200gig hard drives with no problem.
mikevermont Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 My wife and I were 1 and 2 in line at our local Staples. We got there at 4am and the next person didn't get there until 5:00, by the time they opened there was about 50 people in line. We got 2 of the laptops, GPS, memory cards, thumb drives, printers. The manager who got there about 4:30 had asked me what we were looking for on his way in had most of the stuff waiting for us when we walked in the door. They didn't hand out tickets but the line was small enough that they knew who was at the front of the line and made sure they got what they wanted. I even went back around 10:30 and picked up a couple more memory cards. Staples is my new first stop.
