krisyshopalot Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Does anyone know if the Dual Solo can handle windows Vista? Thank you :)
Mike Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Does anyone know if the Dual Solo can handle windows Vista? Thank you :)The HP from BB for $379 is Vista capable. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/systemrequirements.mspx
RossMAN Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Core solo is likely the fastest if you're talking budget computers. The Celeron is probably the worst. The best is the Intel Core 2 Duo but that's not an option here. So you are correct, the Core Solo is the best in terms of power and battery life. Does anyone know if the Dual Solo can handle windows Vista? Thank you :)It should handle Windows Vista just fine, I would recommend upgrading RAM to 1GB though.http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/capable.mspx For $379 out the door with no rebates and DVD Burner the HP @ BB is the hottest laptop this year!
deelite Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 So the one that CC is offering is the "worst" out of thr three??? I figured so, why else would they offer it for $99. WM is sort of like the next runner up, but the hard drive is smaller, it does not burn dvds, and it costs more. I heard getting a dvd burner in a laptop is not easy to do youself. I like everything about the BB computer (except waiting in the cold). I am gonna check out what Staples and Office Depot have to offer (I refuse to even look at Comp USA...I just can't go to all of them!). So far BB is the winner unless something changes. Thanks guys!!! You rock!!!
Mike Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I would say its the worst, but it would be a better deal if it really was $99. It is only $99 when you sign up for Vonage. I think the HP from bestbuy is a much better deal, so worth the $80 extra over the Compaq from CC.
nfbsk Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Your asking between amd, celeron, or core solo. But AMD what? If its AMD sempron, its par with celeron. If its Turion X2, then its better than core solo.

smooth3d Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Semprons are better than the celerons, core solo the best
Rebirth Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Core Solo is the fastest on that list, but Core Duo 2 is the fastest over all for laptops.
stationchief Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Intel's "Core Duos" and AMD's "Turion X2s" are the top compeditors out there. But referring to that list of the cheaper processors, I'd have to agree to go for the Core Solo.
Kalel Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I guess Gateway laptop from BB is my target for this year.....I´m agree with u guys about HP is the best deal but i want better performance....
