BF in Iowa
Wednesday's Des Moines Register (newspaper) features an article about a wayward 8-point buck (a deer) that wandered through the automatic doors into the West Des Moines SuperTarget store. It was successfully chased out. An employee quipped that it must have known that day was "Reindeer Run Day," which was partially-explained as being the day that "head honchos" inspect the store's holiday decorations. What other types of tasks do store managers and staff do in the days preceeding Black Friday, tasks we shoppers often do not know about?
maggies413
Reindeer Run is pretty much it. Ours was today. Basically, all the Store Team Leads and some of the Executive Team Leads go to each of the stores in the district. They walk the store just like they would on any visit, and they also do fun games, present the team with awards and things like that. Its fun. As far as things on the store side go, we don't do that much. Yesterday we decorated our break room which was followed by the traditional fighting over who gets stuck working what shift on Black Friday, and argued over who got who on their team for the day. Today, the salesplanner books with all of the listings for what endcaps we have to set for Thanksgiving/BF arrived. Other than that, a few meetings, a few fights with management, and we'll be ready to roll.
Ducky79
I work for Target. Reindeer Run is crazy but a lot of fun. Store has to look great. Each section of the store gets to decorate a managers door. I already know I am opening BF. :)

mrs.cleaver
Reindeer Run is a great example of teamwork and fun. There is a lot of hard work involved in getting your store spiffy for the appointed executives to come in and spread cheer. The salesplanners and endcaps are a must to have set. My store has a decorating contest on the doors by the TMC and our lounge is fully embraced for the season. A question was brought up about hot items. There are usually several drawing card items pictured in the ad (electroincs, toys, appliances, clothing), these items are not set up till Wednesday evening after the closing announcement has been made. Good Luck to all in your BF shopping:holiday16
Ducky79
I did a lot on it this year. We got a stuffed santa and put him going through a chiminney on this very decorated house. 2 of our managers are in the window peeking. Christmas lights all around and then Santa is holding a huge christmas list of all the team members names and their christmas gift wish
