I have a bad feeling about this year's BF...

It seems this year a lot of people will get initiated on their maiden BF voyage, and BF chatters on the Internet are all over the places. I'm thinking maybe there will be tons of more people joining the BF early bird foray this year and mayhem will break out over some sizzling hot items. Last year, there were a few incidents at Walmart that people pushed and shoved to lay their hands on merchandise and some woman got trampled and tried to sue Walmart. My hunch is this year will probably get a lot worse and lawyers will be camping in the parking lots. Am I too pessimistic about the good nature of Americans???

I think that it will be about the same as every other year :-) The early birds get the worm but there are always a few stores which still have stuff at 10. Last year our WM SuperCenter was open already so no line to push. I just wish they would open the registers early!! The regular WM still had the little appliances, the TV's and the DVD players at 10--I had forgotten to pick up the DVD's that were on sale at the supercenter so I stopped in there hoping that they had them and was pleasantly surprised at how empty the store was!!

Well, the main incident last year was the Wal-Mart woman, but if you remember, it came out later that she's claimed to have been trampled or hurt in about 10 different stores in the past few years.

Even though the deals this year are not so great/Don't need anything, I remember lining up 2 hours early at Target for a crummy bag of samples. So I think people will go (like I will), Just to go. Its TRADITION my daughter says, like a tree lighting, or seeing Santa hellicopter in. I've been doing this for at least 7 years and see no reason to stop now.

Exactly. Even though this will only be my third BF, I am doing it pretty much because it has become a tradition. My first year, it was for the great sales, my second year was a chance to improve my BF strategy, and this year it is mainly because it has become a tradition. So, to each his own, but I still stand by my opinion that there are some pretty good deals to be had this year.

I always go out on BF but I don't see a single thing that anyone has asked for or that I think wsould want in any of the adds. I hope when the Kohls or Bon Ton comes out I'll see something in there.

I think that the stores are  getting smarter (oh no! :) ). I think some stores are staggering the release of the most popular items and even some doorbusters - just as they do with the most popular items through the entire Christmas shopping season. It's amazing how a few cabbage patch dolls or gameboys put out on an empty shelf can create a buzz in a store. Some stores are also creating something of a second wave by having different deals at 12noon or other times, although not as spectacular as the "doorbusters" - they can still be good deals.

Because of the buzz that things like putting a few items out throughout the day can create - I really wonder if several stores will pleasantly surprise us with some unannounced and unadvertised specials to create a buzz.

As for tradition - what about shopping Christmas Eve!!! :bonk: Now THAT is a fun tradition - especially if you don't really NEED to go, but want to go! :yup:

This will be my first year heading to a store first where its not a toy store! I will go to office max to get my husband the $7.99 50 pack of DVD +Rs. Get as many as I can (don't know the limit yet) then go to Walgreens right next to my office max then go to Toys R Us. Only need one thing there and its not an emergency that I get it (crayola art chest). Nothing really were in the ads for my kids this year. Guess I will end up buying their lists regular priced this year. Glad I started a month and a half ago!

It appears from some rather visual postings that I may have seen elsewhere that CC may be listing some items as "on sale" with only the regular retail price listed - no sale price listed. Uh-oh!! No PM opportunity and unsure if it's worth waiting in line for!!

I had felt sorry for this woman. I can't believe what some people will do to get some extra cash.

I'm still goin this year. I dont have to go to WM early in the morning so I should be ok. heh

OK ppl...you guys DO realize that that "incident" was all a scam right??? Stoopid biatch thought she could get away with it...too bad she didn't REALLY get trampled...what a fraud!!! She had previous fraud records and is a criminal...

on what items?

Sorry CheapArse - I don't remember exactly and I guess I didn't retain a copy as I wasn't interested in anything without a sales price :indiffere There are some items with sales prices - the front page etc - I believe this was on an internal page - at least one item was a camera -I'll try to relocate and advise.

Also the CD's reg 12.99 to 14.99 are "11.99 or less" what? may i use the old acronym of bfd??? I suspect many will be cheap to compete with BB - and to create the "unexpected" buzz when they are much less than 11.99 - maybe. On the other hand this deal is Friday AND Saturday.

It's going to be interesting out there!

Watch this year it REALLY will happen to her.

There's really nothing out there that I'm willing to stand in line for hours for. Plus my husband told me flat out, we can go shopping, but he does not want me involved in the hustle bustle of opening doors because of the babies. So I think this year we'll just go a bit early and just pick at what's left.

I've NEVER shopped on Black Friday. I always avoided stepping out of the house on that day. I'm in need of a laptop, flat screen TV and appliances so I've been keeping my eyes open for deals. I thought this would be my year to enter the craziness but nothing has grabbed my attention. I'm still looking, but as of now I doubt this will be my year of initiation!

Me too--I need 2 computer desks, a vacuum cleaner, and 2 Cabbage Patches but anything else I get is just gravy. I bought my inlaws gifts yesterday so that's 4 people off the list (Target has the Juan Valdez pod coffee pot free if you buy the variety pack of pod coffees) so that's done and cheap!! I need a vacuum for my mother, but that's at Kohl's so that's why they are first and my kids are too old for little kid toys and my husband already has all the big kid toys.

I weigh 230 pounds and it would be hard to trample me :2football

:) Rookie! Beware the sleep deprived cold desperate huddled masses longing for that doorbuster gameboy that santa has promised their children and their accountant has told them they can't afford :2elephant:2elephant:2elephant

Yep, I agree....nothing that I am doing :2roller: for, but I must go out there!!LOL I am going to try for the Fuji digital camera at ShopKo for my DH that is $100, but if I don't get it I will just spend the extra $50 to get it elsewhere or just keep watching ads.

I have been wondering if there are going to be some better deals through the shopping season better than tomorrow's. Kind of like someone said, are the stores getting smart? Oh how I hope not! :( But are people going to flock to these deals because they assume these are the best deals of the season and then the stores will do something later and hope that people are too sick of shopping to return and buy elsewhere for a better price? Did that make any sense what so ever??LOL I've been up since 5:30 to read the ads :rolleyes:

OK I've yabbered enough!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!!!! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

that doorbuster gameboy .....

I'm so confused!!! Everyone seems to have a good deal on the SP w/ game(s) I don't know what to do!!

I agree there aren't as many great deals as in years past.

The CD's at Circuit City were 9.99 last year. That was a deal. 11.99 isn't as nice.

What happeneed with that 20" Konka TV at Best Buy? Your list says $68 AR, the ad says $78AR. Why the price difference?
