happysunshine28 Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Do you have your kids tell you what they want for christmas by a certain day? This year my son has changed his big item 4 times, I told him he has to make up his mind by October 1st. Right now he is saying laptop, it was psp, ipod, and started with laptop. My daughter was saying ipod but has now changed it to coach purse and stereo. I just wish they would make up their mind so I can start looking for deals and not worry they will change their ming after I buy something.
able Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 either way they will be happy with any of those items. or should be!im sure they wont complain about having them.
ccarson1972 Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 I already had my two older kids make a list for me, but they keep adding stuff to it.
Turtle Mommy Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 We have them make a list and normally they stick to their big items.
f1rstclass Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 My 2 nephews don't make a list, but I have to to keep track of what I buy who for. Its a challenge sometimes to keep track!! LOL!! :)
elena_398 Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Both my kids already gave me the beginnings of their lists. I usually have an idea of what they want around this time. Helps me to started shopping
bayhaysay Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Nope, my kids don't ever even ask for stuff for Christmas.
Tracy72 Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 my girls dont really ask either...they just look at books and want everything,.....lol...but as for saying....mommy please get me this toy this yr...they dont do that
tiff_noah Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Mine are too young to really ask but my oldest which is 4 I tell to point out what he likes when we are at the store.
shopping mom Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 My older ones make list and if it has to be specific for example DS22 wants tools so he has to include name and model number. The list also has to have various price ranges and be big enough to give me choices. I enjoyed it more when they were all little but they are still my kids.
amani Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 I am starting to hate all the cartoon channels...Disney, Nick, Cartoon Network:mad:  Every toy that comes up on the screen mommy please buy me this, mommy please tell Santa I want that. I'm at six toys so far Baby Alive My little Pony in a Walker Barbie Piano & Guitar Bratz everything Dora Kitchen
teebee Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 My 5 year old daughter is easy to buy for but, my 15 year old son is way too expensive.

They usually get one big thing for about $150 then another $250 each in other stuff. This year I'll get them the Wii. I think I decide more of their gifts than they do. I usually give all the things they ask for to the relatives and I do the surprises, lol. Mine would ask for a laptop too if Santa didn't have a limit of around $400 a kid due to there being 4 of them,lol.(2 with bdays in Dec!! That is a killer!)

starshine Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I always buy my son one larger item. This year it's a stereo last year it was a GBA. Then I have him pick his top 5 toys from the TRU catalog and I see what I can do. My stepkids get cash. I stopped buying for them last year it's to hard to buy for teenagers and they really seemed to enjoy going shopping with us and just blowing their money.
elena_398 Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 My son added about 5 items again last night. I reminded him he will surely NOT get everything. Those darn games cost a fortune!
cactusmom Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I have my kids start making a wish list as soon as we start seeing toy ads in the paper. Problem is, they want it all!! LOL, not gonna happen!
sapphire Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 my kids are too young...my 3.5 yr old tells me she wants every commercial it seems... i start wishlist's on TRU and WM and Target and e-mail it to family members to give them ideas...i ask them to either have it removed from list or TELL ME so Santa doesnt buy it too
Melissa Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 They pretty much want everything they see, so I just pick out things at my own discretion.
sevirj Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 My daughter usually writes out a list of items that she wants. It's funny how the older kids get, the number of items that they ask for decreases, but the cost increases. Sometimes I miss staying up all night putting together the stuff that Santa brought her.
ms_mckenna Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Deadline is Thanksgiving day ... unless you want something that releases this year (like a game system) and then I have to know a few weeks before the release. They also know that if you asked for something after it releases there is a very good chance you won't get it. But final choices are before BF cause that is when I do most of my shopping. DD does not make any decisions till she sees the ads lol. Course there are exceptions my daughter at the moment is saving a spot on the list for the new Emma bag but it does not release until December so if she doesn't like it she will replace it with soemthing else.
blakes_mommy Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 My kids want everything!! I usually have a good idea about what to get them. And if my husband doesn;t start telling me what he wants I am going to beat him!
abentley Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 One of my sons wants...." a hershey bar, bubble tape, and maybe a toy or somethin like that." He is 8, and very serious about maybe adding his 2 front teeth. He is gonna be hard to shop for!!!
love2beurwifey Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I can't wait until I start getting a list of things my baby wants
sns128 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Normally my kids don't make a list so much as give me ideas of what they want. My 7 year old wants star wars related things and my 4 year old wants Dora/Diego stuff.
momof5plus1hubby Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Well I get all the toy catalogs I can find and let them at it LOL. Usually I go to TOYS R US and get 4 ads and let them circle stuff. Here are my kids list so far Andrew 13 Nintendo wii or PS3 (I heard alot of bad rumors about the ps3 so it looks like he will get the wii) Naruto cards Naruto books Raiders Jersey He collects transformers too Jacob 7 Nintendo Ds Nintendo gamecube gameboy player CD boom box games transformers My two older ones are hard to buy for Hannah 5 Dora talking register Baby Alive Baby crib Doctor kit Computer Piano jewelry Giovanni 2 TMX Elmo Diego back pack Firetruck Geo Trax Angelina 1 I would like to get the Discovery Dome for her I forgot to add my husband wants the Flywheels xpv radio control car LOL
glitterstarr Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 My daughter tells me what she wants every year and every year she will always let me know way in advance like in July or August. This year she wants a portable DVD player and clothes. Last year she wanted a computer and that was the only thing she wanted. We also get her other things that way she does have a few surprises under the tree that she doesn't know what she is getting. My inlaws are having a new house built this coming summer in 2007 and my MIL has asked for new things for her house so I think I will be buying her a new comforter set for her bedroom. And some other little knick knack things for her new home. I always get to shop for my MIL since my mom has passed away and I love shopping for her and hubby does the shopping for his dad and brother. My husband and I never exchange gifts we would rather spend it on our daughter instead and we pretty much get what we want thru out the year anyway.
JazzMama Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I am starting to hate all the cartoon channels...Disney, Nick, Cartoon Network:mad:  Every toy that comes up on the screen mommy please buy me this, mommy please tell Santa I want that. I'm going to have to agree on this one! My daughter doesn't really make an actual list, she just runs into the room to say "Come see what I want on my TV"
Stowasser Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 We have a German tradition of leaving our lists out for Santa on the night of Dec 5th in our shoes, he picks up the list and leaves some goodies! They love this, I usually know most of their wants and the list helps with some last min ideas. I tell them they can make the list as long as they want, but its a WISH list so some gifts may come and other may not but that their grandparents give them money so they can fill in with what Santa misses.....Of course, they are 10 and 11 so Santa is becoming a figment of mom's imagination but I tell them if they don't believe than no gifts LOL, they know I am kidding but its sad when they find out and the mystery is "kinda" of gone.....though, they are still trying to figure out where I hide everything-especially the large basketball game they got last year (you know the ones at Arcades where you throw the basketballs in for points, it stands about 7' tall and has two baskets) LOL, I will never tell!
happysunshine28 Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 I got their list now. My son has one thing on his, a laptop. My daughters is not so short but I already got alot of it. Now Im ready for the shopping to begin.
