The BF Ads Race, Place Your Bets!

Don't think one specific store's ad gets scanned every time every year, so let's place our bets. Gimme your best guess for the winners of the following categories:

  • First sale rumored, non-scanned ad. What store, the date it shows up, what item mentioned, and what price tag
  • First ad scanned. What store and the date it shows up
  • First media attention GottaDeal.com recieves. What station/news website/newspaper, and when

I'll start with my bets:

First sale rumored: Wal-Mart, 10/20/06, a 46" wide-screen HDTV, $1199.

First ad scanned: Best Buy on 11/3/06

First media attention for GD: MSNBC online on 11/13/06

I'm throwing guesses in the air pretty much. However, I really do think HDTVs are gonna be rumored first since that's gonna be the red hot item this year.

You forgot to mention that you're going to buy the winner whatever the item in #1 was. You are doing that for the winner, right? :cheesy:

The winning bet wins the respect of his/her fellow peers. That's worth more than any wide-screen HDTV, right? :yup: What can I say. It's a virtual contest, so ya get virtual prizes.

I dunno, maybe Ross or someone can arrange for some GottaDeal points if they really wanna make this into a real contest.

didnt Ace have rumored items already(not scanned)... and i think someone said that Target had small appliances...the normal stuff

Ace Hardware had some "rumored" items, but until there is an ad scan of some kind - nothing can be confirmed.

I'll play...

Wal-Mart: as a doorbuster, a 32-inch LCD HDTV for $599 - which will lead to, oh, 33 misdemeanor arrests nationwide. :tongue1:

Howard

I hope Wal-mart does better than that. I've already seen some 32" HD LCD's in the $500's.

So, Phaser, what do you think will be the fistfight-inducing price for 32-inch high-def LCDs this year? ;) $499? Maybe even less? Curious to know what you think the magic number will be.

(The rest of you, you're all free to guess, too.)
