In the Philadelphia area, other than the Mummers on New Years Day, one also has the Wanamakers (now Macys) light and music show, Longwood Gardens Festival of Lights, The Thanksgiving Day Parade when Santa arrives, Festival of Lights at the Camden Childrens Garden, Polar Express/Santa trains at BOTH Strasburg and Middletown Railroad (that one is closer to H-burg), and umm...there maybe more but they are the only ones on my calendar, heh.

In the Toledo area we have the zoo's "Light's Before Christmas". Which is amazing. There's drive-thru light show close to downtown. The county has a "Children's Wonderland" that the children love to see. We have "the nutcracker" and various music concerts. My kids mainly love to drive around and look at the decorated homes. There is a sub-division near by that nearly every house is all lit up and they always ask to go through there.

In downtown Indy on the circle we have a monument that gets turned into a 'tree of lights' each year. The lighting ceremony is a HUGE draw each year. There's usually entertainment and Santa Claus makes an appearance. Also, many neighborhoods throughout the area do luminarias. It is just beautiful with all the candlelight. The Indianapolis Zoo also has a celebration where you can walk through with all the lights and the kids can get their pictures taken with Santa. The Children's Museum has all sorts of special things for he kids to do, including seeing Santa, the HUGE slide where you land in nice fluffy 'snow', etc. Either the day before or Christmas Eve(sorry can't recall!) they offer free admission to everyone. It's a really nice way to spend a few hours, especially if you have company to entertain.

Kansas City, Missouri, has the Plaza lighting ceremony every year. While we normally just watch the lighting ceremony on TV, we always go to the Plaza every year just to walk around and take in the sights. It's wonderful. And nearly every day at Crown Center there are different high school chorus groups performing carols. Love it!
