  1. My hubby and I decided to get up about 3:30 after getting in at 11pm. After letting the dogs out, changing into comfortable clothes and sitting for a few watching the news--it was already almost midnight. I am so afraid I wont get up--that happened 2 years ago and I didn't LEAVE until 5:15 am!! I think I will be pulling an all nighter here!! I guess I can always sleep tomorrow after shopping:D
  2. I wish I had been able to check this out earlier! Thanks for that info, I am passing it on to my sister. :)

  4. That is absolutely illegal..and exactly why I will not shop at TRU. I would get the corporate info from the website and pursue that..especially if you have the names of the reps and the times you spoke to them. Maybe if you let them know that it's quite obvious what they are pulling they will offer you some sort of deal. My sister had the same problem ..TRU not honoring the advertised price.when she ordered it, there was no problem..then she received the cancellation. She called the customer service line and tried to order it. No problem- at full price. Even after she told them she had an email right in front of her saying what the sale price was, they said they had no idea what she was talking about and if she wanted to place the order it would be at full price. when she spoke to the corporate people she told them she was turning them in for false advertisement. She also told them about her phone call to customer service and that she still had the email and would gladly forward it since nobody seemed to know what she was talking about concerning the advertised sale price of this item. They were not happy hearing that and actually treated her worse after she said it. She finally had enough of these people basically telling her that she was trying to get an expensive item for a ridiculous price at a time when alot of people are strapped for cash. She was really offended, spewed a few choice words their way and hung up. She said she wasn't going to waste her time and would never shop with them again. It's horrible that this is the way that they are treating thier customers. Sorry to hear that others have had the same problem!! I hope you can find another deal somewhere!
  5. In downtown Indy on the circle we have a monument that gets turned into a 'tree of lights' each year. The lighting ceremony is a HUGE draw each year. There's usually entertainment and Santa Claus makes an appearance. Also, many neighborhoods throughout the area do luminarias. It is just beautiful with all the candlelight. The Indianapolis Zoo also has a celebration where you can walk through with all the lights and the kids can get their pictures taken with Santa. The Children's Museum has all sorts of special things for he kids to do, including seeing Santa, the HUGE slide where you land in nice fluffy 'snow', etc. Either the day before or Christmas Eve(sorry can't recall!) they offer free admission to everyone. It's a really nice way to spend a few hours, especially if you have company to entertain.
  6. I'm going to go with the Lakeside Collection , too. I have been ordering from LTD for a lot of years now, but have always been frustrated with their shipping costs and have had them cancel orders without notification, as well. Lakeside has great customer service and the shipping is less for the same items, for the most part.
  7. My brother loves popcorn, so one year me and one of my sisters wrapped his gifts in brown paper bags the wound threaded popcorn all around the packages. Not easy to transport, but fun to watch him try to open through all the popcorn!
  8. My mother also gave each of us an ornament each year- still does in fact. I continued doing this with my children , as well. I love looking at all of my old ornaments with the kids. The always look for the year written on it and ask me how old I was then..lol. I buy the kids whatever I really like each year and sometimes they get to pick.
  9. My mother has bought me and my brother and sisters an ornament every year since birth, so I have all of those plus I continued the tradition and have done the same for my kids. I also buy whatever I like toput on the tree. I usually do white lights so thatthe ornaments really stand out. My tree topper is one that my mother brought back from Germany(along with some BEAUTIFUL ornaments)a few years back. I have so many ornaments that I usually have to decide what to leave off becaus we run out of room. I also use the long strands of red beads and wind them through the branches and ornaments. It takes ALOT of time, but well worth it in the end !! It turns out sooo pretty we hate to take it down each year- which explains why it is usually still up towards the end of January:p . I also make my own wreaths to hang outside and on the door. So many of your trees so pretty!!! I wish I had the space to more than one!! I would love to see pics of some of these decorated trees..
  10. Would the OP happen to know if these were the orange or pink systems..or both. I would love the pink one for DD, but the orange will do just fine. I am so glad I checked in here early today! I was going to use my Amazon.com GC's to buy the V.smile , the adapter and a couple of games. This will be a better deal!! Thanks for posting!!!
  11. My kids birthdays are both on December 14th--5 years apart. December is a big birthday month for us--we 7 birthdays(including my kids) in 7 days. It's crazy!! Anyway, I try to have a party for my son earlier in the year, usually towards the end of the summer. It's just easier and he still has a great time. We still have a small family party in December, we just don't try to mess with birthday parties so close to Christmas anymore. I had one party for him a few years ago the weekend following his birthday--the kids were out of school for vacation, so it seemed like it would work out--wrong!! I actually had a parent call me and tell me her kid would not be attending and that I had alot of nerve throwing a birthday party for my son so close to Christmas . She went on to tell me that it was pretty selfish of me to expect people to buy my kid a birthday gift when they obviously would be busy shopping for their own families gifts. I was just about in tears. That's when I deceded I would let him have his party earlier in the year. It really makes things alot easier to do it that way and he loves that he gets to have his birthday at the pool if he wants!
  12. No breakfast. We get up, do gifts, get cleaned up and dressed , then we head to my mother's where my sisters and brother meet us. We stop and get coffe somewhere (usuallly a gas station) on the way. Sometimes mom has cinnamon buns or something like that waiting. We get right to it with the gifts. We eat snacky finger foods, usually summer sausage, crackers, crab dip, veggie dip, etc. We have dinner around 1pm or so and that is really the only 'meal' we have all day. Then we move on to visit my husbands side of the family, go backto moms and play board games and eat leftovers until the wee hours.
  13. I love White Christmas and Sleigh Ride...and The Hanukah Song by Adam Sandler..lol. I'm not Jewish, but I can't hear that song enough during the season!
  14. DS will be 10 in DEC. and DD will be 5 in DEC., as well. Of course,dd still believes and has no reason not to, but ds I think is at least questioning whether Santa is real. He hasn't come right out and said he knows, but I suspect he does. I think maybe he is on the fence and is not saying anything for fear he won't get his 'Santa pile'. He asked a few weeks ago if Santa really brings the gifts and I asked him why he wanted to know. Of course, he has heard other kids at school and in the neighborhood saying there is no Santa,so that's why he was wondering. DD overheard us talking and got VERY upset that he was even questioning it..lol. He finally said he knows there's a Santa Claus so that she would stop crying..lol. So sweet! He said while rolling his eyes, but at least he said it.
  15. Kohl's is CRAZY on Bf here! We NEVER go there very early. We usually hit Walmart, Meijer and BB first-in teams- then get coffee and a quick bite, then moveon to Kohl's. Every year Kohl's has lines that wind all the way around to the back of the store. We have waited 2 hours to check out on BF. There are never enough carts either. We saw a woman a couple of years ago unload all of this other woman's stuff out of one onto the floor and took off with it. Talk about a fight! They had to pull these women apart and made them both leave the store. At least we had entertainment while we were waiting in line..lol. They do have some good deals though, especially on jewlery.
  16. Mulled/Spiced cider Gingerbread Anything apple-y Cinnamon Bun Fall/winter is my absolute favorite time of the year. I HATE the summer..!!
  17. We start wrapping here and there a couple of weeks ahead, but normally have the majority of it left to do on Christmas Eve. We have turned it into sort of a tradition..lol. We do snacky finger foods and everyone (me, brother, sisters, mom, hubby, etc) gets together at my mom's and we all bring our wrapping supplies, sit on the floor, watch 'A Christmas Story'(over and over again!), wrap gifts and talk. It actually turns out to be a pretty fun evening.
  18. I'm so glad to see someone else posted this! I am interested in the V.smile, too. DD got the InteracTV system last year-biggest disappointment ever! Never really worked right from the get-go and the company even sent an entire replacement unit- just another crappy unit. Glad to hear that the majority hasn't had problems with the V.smile!
