Looking for good tv deals

I’m am what you would call technology illiterate. I get very overwhelmed by all the choices and specs and different jargon that I can’t quite wrap my head around it all. I need a smart TV, 50-55 inches and from a reliable brand to watch tv shows, movies and football on. I would like to stay $600 or less but I’m not sure if that is a reasonable budget or not.  I have no idea what I should be looking for in the sale ads to even try to figure out what is a good deal. Any suggestions/advice? Have you seen any in ads that have made you excited to wait in line (virtually or in person) for it?

You're probably going to find the best during BF week. There are a lot to choose from; even just all the brands. I think you've got most of your bases covered, but maybe which Smart TV framework do you want? (e.g. Fire TV, Roku, etc.)

 

I don't remember anything major standing out, but there may have been a few; I'll keep my eyes open.

I see that Hisense is trying to make a push this year and get into more homes. I have never tried that brand. TCL has a few decent deals at Walmart and Amazon. I think I am going to get a tv from Costco or Sams so I can get the full 3-5 year warranty. I am tired of the TV's dying after 2 years

I feel like I've been lucky with TVs. My Black Friday TV (Sharp) from Circuit City (yes, it's that old) is still alive. All my Samsungs from 9 years ago, and even my Insignia that lives on the back porch for 2 years hasn't had issues.

Only issue I've really had in the last years was our 75" TCL that died. Wasn't really it's fault though bad storms caused electrical issues while we were out of town. Took out the controller boards. Will replace them at some point. Went and got the Hisense (3rd one we have now). All have been excellent TV's the oldest one we have is like 4 years old and works like new still, outlasted our LG that died after 3 years lol.

i have two plasmas that must be 15 years old (or more) and they work great (not getting rid of them).  seems stuff made nowadays is made to not last very long but is much much cheaper.  I suppose you get what you pay for.  BJs has 55in Samsungs for less than $300.  I am sure other retails are in the same ballpark.

I might give Hisense a try. The have the QLED at a good price for BF

144hz for gaming is excellent.  With the ATSC 3.0 tuner, you should be able to pick up FREE HDTV with a mud flap antenna in the right window.  Google TV is a good OS, but you can always switch to Roku or FireTV by adding an inexpensive dongle.
