Firemansgal311
I know last year being a newbie I was all giddy about shopping and had to ask what times the stores open. Do you think there needs to be a specific thread to address the hours of each store so ppl won't keep asking it? I am so excited!
Josher5513
Well, with some stores it can vary greatly by the region, city, state, etc.. But it's a general rule-of-thumb that most major retailers that have Doorbuster Deals open at 5am anyway..

Do you think there needs to be a specific thread to address the hours of each store so ppl won't keep asking it? I am so excited!Yeah, I think that is a great idea. I was new last year too and I had to keep going from one site to another to determine the opening hours of different stores so I could plan where to go first, second, and so on. If there was a single place to go to for those hours it would be great. Now, maybe it could be posted at the top of each store's individual discussion thread, but I kind of like being able to go to 1 place to see all the stores that are open at 5:00, or 6:00, or 7:00 and so on. Can't wait to shop!
Aaron
Once we get a little closer to Black Friday, I'll make sure one of these is up and running (as I was the one that started it last year.) :)

Marcster
I won't be suprise if stores open at 4:30 a.m. this year.I think the CompUSA opening at midnight probably caught some other companies by surprise. I wonder if some other places are going to want to give that a shot? Soon places won't even close for Thanksgiving! The same idea behind Macy's bringing out their Christmas decorations last weekend (at my local mall anyway...)
Gurnee Al
My local K-Mart was open for several hours on Thanksgiving. (as noted on Aaron's list) Of course I went, and they were fairly crowded that day. I didn't buy anything so I could save my budget for BF. vonnyb
I agree last year I was able to get a great deal on an electric blanket from Big Lots on Thanksgiving day.
yuyi64
Well, with some stores it can vary greatly by the region, city, state, etc.. But it's a general rule-of-thumb that most major retailers that have Doorbuster Deals open at 5am anyway..There can be variations even within the same city since most national retail chains only dictate to the local stores what the "minimum" hours have to be on Black Friday. Store managers are usually given the discretion of opening earlier or staying open later if they wish to do so. An agressive manager that wants to get a jump on the competition will throw the doors open earlier than the company-mandated time, so be sure to ask a member of management a couple of days before Thanksgiving what time they plan to open on BF. d56nut
I have a question about Wal-Mart Hours. We have two Wal-mart's here. The one that I usually shop at is closed on Thanksgiving and opens early (I think 5 or 6) on BF. The other one is a SUPER Wal-Mart. As far I ask I know, they are normally open 24/7. How does this work for BF? Will they be open all night? Can I go inside early (say 3 or 4 AM) and wait? Or do they close and then re-open? I've been shopping BF for several years now but never at a SUPER Wal-Mart. Figured I might give it a try if I can wait inside. Thanks! d56nut
Most of the time the sale ads have the times that the stores are openAre the times listed for BOTH regular AND super wal-marts? My regular ad's just say Open 24 Hours but don't say anything about regular vs. super. Do ALL super wal-marts stay open the night before BF? Sorry for all the questions! I'm a seasoned BF shopper but not at Super Wal-Mart's....I feel sooooo inferior! LOL!!! Michelle

I have heard of some stores closing and reopening but ours doesn't do that.

elena_398
MY 24 hour Walmart last year had ALL BF pallets uncovered. I was there at midnight. To cut down on pushing/shoving you could put what you wanted in your cart but you couldn't check out until the sale actually started. Only things you had to wait for was the portable dvd player and GameBoy Sps. All other items available as soon as you went in. I was done with everything in my cart and price matching stuff within an hour. lol
