Gator Pam Posted October 19 Posted October 19 In order to keep the contest threads clean for entry purposes, I thought it might be nice to have a place to ask questions about or give feedback on the entries, whether a recipe one might have tried or inquiries about products, etc. @len_mullen I read your post about wireless thermometers in the Gift Ideas contest thread and I agree with you about Meater. However, I have yet to try Thermoworks new RFX wireless probe thermometer and am quite curious about it. I am definitely a fan of Thermoworks products, but am thinking Meater may be difficult to beat in this category.

However, I have yet to try Thermoworks new RFX wireless probe thermometer and am quite curious about it. I am definitely a fan of Thermoworks products, but am thinking Meater may be difficult to beat in this category. I suspect they are all fairly similar, but I have experience only with the Meater and I like it. The probe is stored in a box that serves as a battery powered charger and communications hub. You place the box close to the oven, it receives data from the probe and passes it to the app. The app is slick. Open the app and start a cook, choose your meat, choose your cut, and choose your cooking method. Put the probe in the thickest part of the meat and start your cook. Meater will keep track of the cook progress, the ambient temperature, and the temperature of the meat. Meater will tell you when to remove the meat from the heat and when it is rested. That's about it. Tonight, I am cooking a rotisserie chicken in that oven I posted. I have the 'special effects' control set to rotisserie/convection, so the fans and spit are spinning. The recipe calls for preheat to 350. I won't do that because it hurts to sear your forearms on 350 degree heaters. I will simply mount the bird on the spit, put it in the holes, then run the oven at the highest temperature top and bottom until I reach 350. I will also ignore the cook times and rely on my Meater to let me know when the chicken is done. Oh, and I will be playing Galaxian on one of those Arcade1up cabinets. Life is good. xoxo...len! 1
Gator Pam Posted October 20 Author Posted October 20 @Fishboysmom The Carcup Expandable Holder is an awesome idea. My landlords each have movie theater-style recliners with cup holders. These will be perfect for snacking during football games or streaming. 2
len_mullen Posted October 20 Posted October 20 We gave the Meater the night off. Tonight, St. Louis style ribs, collard greens, and roasted sweet potatoes are what's for dinner. First time in the big countertop oven. First win is that the entire slab of ribs fits just fine. Used to have to cut the slab in half. Second win is that I can roast the sweet potatoes at the same time I am baking the ribs. 2 1

I just added it to my gifting wishlist for my kids. I would have liked this when I used to take my lunch breaks in my car :). 1
Gator Pam Posted October 23 Author Posted October 23 @tracy0504 Those Flashlight gloves are an amazing idea! I haven’t seen them before. They may just take care of all three guys on my list for Hanukkah.

They are cute! Love how they light up. However, 1 wheel came off one of ours. Maybe too rough on it?? But just mentioning it incase your gifting to a small child. 1
Hubbalance Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Please look into gate checking a car seat and how dangerous it is. A child in a car seat on the airplane is so much safer than having a lap child. Please research this,

len_mullen Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Eight-pound standing rib roast in the Amazon.com: Elite Gourmet ETO-4510M French Door 47.5Qt, 18-Slice Convection Oven 4-Control Knobs, Bake Broil Toast Rotisserie Keep Warm, Includes 2 x 14" Pizza Racks, Stainless Steel : Everything Else tonight. I roasted sweet potatoes and broccoli in the beast while the meat was resting. Saturday, I roasted a six pound chicken (no rotisserie this time). Friday 12" pizzas. Tonight lobster stuffed salmon pinwheels. I'm beginning to think I could live in one of those tiny homes or maybe a car as long as I had an AC converter. Quote We gave the Meater the night off. I have the older version of the Kalorik 26-quart french door air fryer oven. I love it and find it to be big enough for my needs; I can’t imagine finding room on my counter for an appliance almost twice the capacity. The Kalorik does have a known issue. It hasn’t happened to me, and there is a fix readily handled posted on YouTube. I have no idea how long this clearance price from Walmart will last, but it definitely sounds worth $97 to me. jesusluvu Posted October 28 Posted October 28 I didn't see this thread. But I posted about the UNO No Limit or Ruthless edition and I love it. I am so ordering it as my family loves UNO. 1

Cooked a nine pound ham in this oven last night. I may never use my range's oven again. 3
