tracy0504 Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Hmmmm... I think we'll see early sales from the usual suspects, Wally World, Tar-jay, Kohl's... I don't think Wally World or Tar-jay (or any of the smaller stores) will be affected by the coming election at all, depending on where the store is located and the demographics people are still going to shop... I live close to the Canadian border and we have a lot of people who come from Canada DAILY to shop in Tar-jay specifically (several Tar-jays in the area to be exact)... if they only stock up to supply for the Canadians they would still make a killing because they do not care and are not affected by our election... but we see the same things on sale every year because there is always someone in need of one or more of those items, electronics, games, toys... now how much of a sale we will see on the usual products is a good question...
jesusluvu Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Not sure what the sales will look like. I think if an item drops at a price point you like, pull the trigger. Last few years the early sales were better than BF sales and it cost me more than it otherwise would have. 1
sleepster1969 Posted October 16 Posted October 16 I think the current trend will continue to be more EARLY 'sales' but actual BF will disappoint. My kids are grown and finally I have grands to buy for but the excitement and expectation of the BIG BF night is gone. No more hours(days) of camping for those great 1 in 1 a million deals. everything is avail online weeks if not sooner. 1
KB1 Posted October 16 Posted October 16 (edited) I miss the days/ nights of standing in line in the cold for the awesome electronic deal that ya just could not pass up. The sales the past few years just seem to be mediocre, and retailers have spread the sales out to far. Although I still can get some good deals, the excitement of getting the “huge BF deal” just isn’t there anymore in my area at least. Edited October 16 by KB1 2 1

Getting up at 4 am and standing in line for those $5 pair of PJ's while everyone else was waiting on a TV. I would have all my earlybird shopping done by 8 am, then get myself breakfast before heading out for the regular deals. It was like a live version of Ms Packman, and every time I scored a deal I would power up! Sigh. BF has disappointed a lot lately. But I still can't wait. 3 1

I honestly don't expect any great sales or deals, just as the past few years have shown us. Sure, there are places that have "sales", but nothing earth-shattering like years ago. It seems like all the stores have the same things on sale every year and those sales aren't that great anymore. yeah and it's hard to tell if you're getting a really good deal or a store-or even that store- will have it cheaper the next week or so. 1

momlori Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I agree that I miss that early morning Black Friday rush. It’s not the same 2
connieh Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I think I might stand in line at Kohls this year. They will open at 5am and have a chance to win something.
wonder77 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) Kohl's seems interesting and it is only half a mile from my place... I might decide to stand in line to remind me of good old days... Edited November 7 by wonder77 Wasn't sure how to quote/respond to another post

I think many stores are going to offer price match and extended returns given the s-p-r-e-a-d-o-u-t of the sale events!!! They Better do it if they want my money!!! 1
