I guess 60-80 gigs would be fine, size isn't critical, but I'd like it to be quiet. I will use it on USB 2, but I'd like to be able to use it on USB 1 also- getting a new computer (yeah- Dell deals...) and want to be able to download the data from my old computer (hence USB 1) and then transfer it over. Thanks for any info

What I would do is looking for a good deal on a normal 60-80GB drive from a local store and then order one of these enclosures for it, making it an external hard drive:

The 3rd and 4th ones are the same, except 4th one has firewire. Personally, I'd stick with Vantec because they are a brand name, but the first two shouldn't be bad.

I don't know if you've ever shopped at newegg.com before, but they are very reliable and have excellent customer service. You shouldn't have any problems with them if you want a refund/exchange/etc. for any reason.

i'd avoid the first one AgaBoogaBoo posted since it's a 2.5" drive and your going to pay alot more for one of those over a 3.5". so unless size is critical save yourself the money.

-edit nevermind the smoke from my crack pipe made that 3 look like a 2. keep it moveing
