A quick look on pricegrabber shows that Monarch has it for cheaper even before the drop date (24th). Pricegrabber has and error and showing the X2 3800 at Monarch fro $119 but it points to the single core 3800.

Go to monarchcomputer.com with extensions http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=120244

So I'm still too young to post links, but a cut and paste is available for you pleasure.

$163 plus shipping if you have to have it before the drop date

It's funny you recommend Asus because were at Fry's today and the sales person recommended the same brand.

:)

Damnit, not only do I sound like a fanboi, but now I have retarded people that don't know what they're talking about confirming my somewhat educated guess!!!

I advise that you take a grain of salt with my recommendation based on this new information and I'll do some more research on boards. :)

Fanboi'ism is welcome here but you'll have to get along with the "Canon" fanbois.

Asus is almost always a solid board reccomendation. Don't feel bad in reccomending it to anyone.

They always seem to be stable and on par with any competition. The important thing is that Asus seems to be consistent with there quality where other MB companies seem to fluctuate in the race.

I searched on newegg and that is the only board meeting your specs my friend. All the others (6) do not have firewire, go figure.

On a side note I think I can get along with the Canon boys since I just bought a rebel XT and have had no problems. The price was better than the nikkon so....

Wait a few days and get it dirt cheap. I just read that AMD has decided to cut prices even more than originally planned, with a 4600+ probably selling for under $250.

Actually, I read that AMD is dropping all of the processors with the 2x1MB cores that aren't in the FX line.

I guess I will just have to wait and see where things go.

My Asus A8N-E socket 939 has been working flawlessly with an X2 4200+ for several months. My Asus P4C800-E has worked flawlessly with a P4 3.2C for 3 years. Asus makes good boards except possibly their cheapest.

Looks like AMD price cuts are at most online stores now, good deals since you can't actually buy Core 2 yet except in complete systems like a $1,500+ Dell XPS. Be careful though, some of the AMD chips are at the old prices, some are at the new.

Also, be careful of the same chips on two different sockets now:

Socket 939 and AM2.

I'm wondering if I should jump on the 4400+ before it goes away...

Again a quick look on pricegrabber has the low down on this chip.

Clubit.com is beatting that price by ~$10 with no tax and free shipping. Only problem is it is OoS

Or take your pick

I was thinking that for a few extra bucks you could get the 4200, but that was yesterday or the day before when the the difference was about ~$10.

Not a bad price for the AMD duals though. This is for those who don't want to update there 939 boards yet.
