Do you recommend any upgrades to this?

Yep and here they are:

  • Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition re-installation CD [add $8 or $1/month1]
  • 15.4 inch UltraSharp™ Wide Screen SXGA+ Display with TrueLife™ [add $80 or $3/month1]
  • If you plan on playing any games, I would upgrade the video card:

    256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400 HyperMemory™ [add $79 or $3/month1]

  • Upgrade warranty to 2 or 3 years mail in or at home service

Again, pardon my ignorance, but what is the benefit of dual core? Thank you!

The dual core is one of the latest Intel CPUs.

It basically has 2 processors on a single chip. This allows you to accomplish many tasks much quicker than with a standard single core chip. In addition, they can be more efficient, saving precious battery life.

If u had a choice would u go with the intel or AMD version of this chip?

Intel Core Duo is better for laptops than AMD's chips, the exact opposite of Intel vs AMD on the desktop.

The Intel laptop dual core chips are fast but run cool (and quiet), while their desktop P4 chips are slower and run very hot. Apple uses this laptop chip to make their fast but tiny and silent Mac Minis.

This is an incredible deal, I'm tempted to get one as a desktop replacement but I don't need a laptop so I'm waiting for next month when Intel's new "Conroe" desktop processors will be out.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about it since I have a Dell Inspiron that overheats. I didn't know if the AMD would be better. Anyways, I got this deal, but made upgrades to the Ram and Video Card. I'll let u know how it turns out when it gets here. Thanks :)
