Kanyon71 Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 So SiriusXM has started adding their Christmas radio stations on the radios and even more of them online. So it made me think. What are some of your favorite songs to listen to during the holiday's? A few of mine are: I'll be home for Christmas (Frank Sinatra version) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tItGjgFZpjkChristmas in Hollis (Run D.M.C.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR07r0ZMFb8Santa Claus is Coming to Town (Bruce Springsteen) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76WFkKp8Tjs I have other but these are a few of my all time favorites. Attached some Youtube links in case you want to listen. 1
Bopeep Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 I have so many "favorites"! But, if I had to pick just a few, they would be: Mary Did You Know (that last line is SO powerful!). https://youtu.be/NGw8holYZr0I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day. I totally didn't appreciate that one when I was younger, but I just love the message more and more now. https://youtu.be/zCOR4e-aiaY I also love Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton's I Believe in Santa Claus. https://youtu.be/e01P7dQ14XE And so many more! 2
Gator Pam Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 (edited) My favorite is the same one I share every year: the full length version of Snoopy's Chr-stmas by The Royal Guardsmen, including the story tribute to The Chr-stmas Truce of 1914 at the very beginning. Rnoski Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 I like the 12 pains of Christmas .... I think that’s the name of it...... rigging up the lights! Lol one goes out they all go out.... lol https://youtu.be/yasSkqJBytk 5
Rnoski Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Ray stevens - Santa Claus is watching you Grandma got run over by a reindeer I always love the classics Rat pack, Burl Ives, Elvis ones..... 1
Reinholt1 Posted November 11, 2020 Posted November 11, 2020 Well, being clergy, I like traditional hymns. I especially like the Christmas hymns that don't get sung very often: The Huron Carol (especially in the Huron language), Of the Father's Love Begotten, Lulee Lulay, Hallelujah Chorus etc. But I admit, I get very excited and turn the radio up every time I hear I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas or Dominic The Donkey. 2
jesusluvu Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 (edited) Mary did you know is my all time favorite. There is a song where a little girl sings Happy Birthday Jesus and it is my everything I like the Mariah Carey Christmas CD... You know the one she messed up on live TV.....yep Temptations - Silent Night Etc Edited November 12, 2020 by jesusluvu 3
Bopeep Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Ray stevens - Santa Claus is watching you Grandma got run over by a reindeerI always love the classics Rat pack, Burl Ives, Elvis ones.....When my son was little (probably 4 or 5) he told me to quit playing that song. It's "kinda creepy, Mom". LOL. He got a letter from Santa that year, and Santa totally agreed with him that the song is "kinda creepy". Of course, it's still on MY Christmas playlist though . 1
bossy1 Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 Dolly Parton- Hard Candy Christmas I have always loved this song..but for me this year it rings on an emotional level true beyond measure. 2

jesusluvu Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 With Willie you have to question what type of paper he is talking about. We all know the only type of paper that Willie touches.....LOL 4
speeddiva Posted November 13, 2020 Posted November 13, 2020 My favorite is After December Slips Away. It’s a beautiful song about keeping the spirit all year round. Donny Osmond does my favorite version of it.
Gator Pam Posted November 14, 2020 Posted November 14, 2020 (edited) While not my favorite Chr-stmas song, I do love Greg Lake's I Believe in Father Chr-stmas. While it is still a bit early for me to start listening to holiday music, when I read that the Greg Lake YouTube channel released a restored 4K video of the song yesterday, I had to go watch it. As far as I can tell, the audio was not remastered or altered in anyway, so it is the same version that I have loved, but in a pristine video. Every other version I have seen prior to this has been blurry. What a treat to come upon. Edited November 14, 2020 by Gator Pam 2
ajogg Posted November 19, 2020 Posted November 19, 2020 Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives is probably my favorite. I grew up watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer by Rankin Bass with Mr Ives at The Snowman. 3
Brad Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Tough question. I'd go with either Darlene Love's Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) or River by Joni Mitchell. Honorable mention to The Pretenders' version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
wittenlover Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 I actually have two albums that basically live on repeat in my car once Black Friday arrives: TobyMac’s “Christmas in Diverse City” and MercyMe’s “The Christmas Sessions”. There are other songs I enjoy and appreciate (like Hallelujah Chorus) but these albums really help keep me in the spirit of the season. [emoji4]

ilikefree Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I love Mary Did You Know when sung by anyone, but especially when Pentatonix sings it. I also like Holly Jolly Christmas, just because I love the way my older son sang it when he was little. 2
